Introduction: Despite increasing physician specialization, high-quality continuing professional development is needed for continual mastery learning, especially focused on multiple specialties. Board certification is considered a surrogate for competency, and some stakeholders consider it suboptimally aligned with its primary purpose. We set to explore the motivation for continued education and competence in physicians who are board certified in multiple specialties.

Introduction: The orthopaedic surgery physician workforce is predominately White and male and has been identified as the least diverse medical specialty. Increasing efforts toward diversification within orthopaedic surgery are underway. Background: Israel is unique in offering a formal subspecialty in Medical Administration and mandating it for physicians applying for senior roles. Data on the prevalence and characteristics of these specialists are limited.
Methods: The national registry of licensed physicians was used to identify all living physicians who completed the Medical Administration subspecialty by December 31, 2022.

Objective: In 2011, the American Board of Surgery (ABS) implemented a policy to permit greater flexibility in the structure of general surgery (GS) residency training. Our goal was to investigate the impact of flexibility in surgical training (FIST) on resident success in obtaining ABS board eligibility and certification.
Design: A prospective, multi-institutional study was conducted to examine the feasibility of incorporating flexibility tracks across residency programs and measure educational outcomes including ABS In-service Training Exam (ABSITE) scores, Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Milestones, operative case log volumes, and ABS Qualifying (QE) and Certifying (CE) Examinations scores.
