Observationally-derived emissions of ozone depleting substances must be scrutinized to maintain the progress made by the Montreal Protocol in protecting the stratospheric ozone layer. Recent observations of three chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), CFC-113, CFC-114, and CFC-115, suggest that emissions of these compounds have not decreased as expected given global reporting of their production. These emissions have been associated with hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) production, which can require CFCs as feedstocks or generate CFCs as by-products, yet emissions from these pathways have not been rigorously quantified.

RNA-ModX: a multilabel prediction and interpretation framework for RNA modifications.

Brief Bioinform

November 2024

In-Service Master Program in Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, College of Medicine, Taipei Medical University, 250 Wuxing Street, 110, Taipei, Taiwan.

Accurate prediction of RNA modifications holds profound implications for elucidating RNA function and mechanism, with potential applications in drug development. Here, the RNA-ModX presents a highly precise predictive model designed to forecast post-transcriptional RNA modifications, complemented by a user-friendly web application tailored for seamless utilization by future researchers. To achieve exceptional accuracy, the RNA-ModX systematically explored a range of machine learning models, including Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), Gated Recurrent Unit, and Transformer-based architectures.

Youth-led participatory action research (YPAR) engages young people as partners in rigorous research inquiry to guide and inform collective action. Scholars interested in YPAR have notable investment in social justice and activist values, which at times come in direct tensions within their doctoral training and/or professional roles within academia. One monumental hurdle in conducting YPAR is obtaining approval from the Institutional Review Board (IRB).

Background: Descriptive phenomenological research is crucial in nursing for understanding individuals' experiences, perceptions, and relationships, which are essential for person-centered healthcare. However, a common critique is that researchers often use phenomenological methods without fully comprehending their historical and philosophical foundations. Existing literature highlights discrepancies in the application of phenomenological principles by nurse researchers, particularly in their presentation of philosophical underpinnings and methodological details.
