BACKGROUND The management of unstable atlas fractures remains a subject of ongoing debate and controversy. The conservative surgical treatment commonly involves fusion, resulting in severe loss of cervical spine mobility, and a large incisions and extensive tissue dissection are required. We aim to introduce a novel concept and surgical approach for treating atlas fracture, one that involves minimizing trauma while maintaining mobility of the upper cervical spine without resorting to fusion.

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of an 8-week physiotherapy program on muscle strength, functional capacity, respiratory function, and quality of life in women recovering from COVID-19. A prospective cohort study was conducted with 42 women aged 18-65 who experienced muscle strength loss and functional impairments post-COVID-19. Participants underwent personalized physiotherapy interventions, including resistance training, respiratory therapy, and functional mobility exercises, for 8 weeks.

Rupture of the thyrocervical trunk aneurysm into the thoracic cavity does not occur very often. It is an urgent condition due to hemorrhagic shock by massive hemothorax with potentially fatal consequences. Pregnancy and puerperium are additional risk factors for a rupture of the thyrocervical trunk aneurysm in patients with neurofibromatosis and aneurysms.
