About half of 2,581 low-income mothers reported reading daily to their children. At 14 months, the odds of reading daily increased by the child being firstborn or female. At 24 and 36 months, these odds increased by maternal verbal ability or education and by the child being firstborn or of Early Head Start status. White mothers read more than did Hispanic or African American mothers. For English-speaking children, concurrent reading was associated with vocabulary and comprehension at 14 months, and with vocabulary and cognitive development at 24 months. A pattern of daily reading over the 3 data points for English-speaking children and daily reading at any 1 data point for Spanish-speaking children predicted children's language and cognition at 36 months. Path analyses suggest reciprocal and snowballing relations between maternal bookreading and children's vocabulary.

Background: Patients with diabetes have traditionally been required to use fingerstick testing to self-monitor their glucose levels. However, continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) collect glucose readings throughout the day and display daily trends, which allow clinicians to individualize treatment to achieve hemoglobin A (HbA) goals and simplify medication regimens. While studies have shown that CGMs improve HbA levels compared to fingerstick testing, this research has focused on type 1 diabetes and excluded veterans and patients on insulin therapy.

Mathematics learning disorders (MD) and reading learning disorders (RD) are persistent conditions that interfere with success in academic and daily-life tasks, and cannot be attributed to intellectual disabilities, sensory deficits, or environmental factors. Prevalence rates of MD and RD are estimated at 5-10 % of school-age children, and their comorbidity (MDRD) is highly prevalent, with around 40 % of children with MD also experiencing RD. Despite this high comorbidity rate, research on MDRD has received less attention compared to isolated conditions, leaving its neurocognitive mechanisms unclear.

Background: Despite approvals of new first-line immunotherapies for advanced/metastatic gastric cancer/gastroesophageal junction cancer (aGC/GEJC), patients' median survival is around 14 months and their health-related quality of life (HRQoL) is affected by disease-related symptoms and treatment-related side effects. Using a targeted literature review (TLR) and patient interviews, this study identified disease- and treatment-related concepts that are important to patients with aGC/GEJC and their HRQoL.

Methods: A TLR was conducted to identify primary qualitative studies from 2018 to 2021 on patients' experiences with aGC/GEJC.

Purpose Of Review: Significant inequities persist in hypertension detection and control, with minoritized populations disproportionately experiencing organ damage and premature death due to uncontrolled hypertension. Remote blood pressure monitoring combined with telehealth visits (RBPM) is proving to be an effective strategy for controlling hypertension. Yet there are challenges related to technology adoption, patient engagement and social determinants of health (SDoH), contributing to disparities in patient outcomes.
