The process of streptokinase modification by a polymer and the dynamics of protein molecules and the polymer in a protein-polymer (dialdehyde dextran, DAD) conjugate were studied with the aid of luminescent methods. Conclusions were drawn on the structure of the protein-DAD conjugate and the selection of optimum conditions for the preparation of modified streptokinase. It is shown that modified streptokinase is more stable to the action of denaturating agents. The interaction between streptokinase and plasminogen activated by it and changes in the streptokinase-plasminogen complex for modified streptokinase were detected.

Components of the plasminogen/plasmin system, known to be present in the oocyte, play a key role in maturation and fertilization. The objective of this study was to examine the effect of plasminogen activation and plasmin inhibition by exogenous supplementation of the IVF medium with streptokinase (SK) or ɛ-aminocaproic acid (ε-ACA), respectively, on fertilization parameters and preimplantation embryo development. After in vitro maturation, bovine cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs) were inseminated in the presence of SK or ε-ACA.

In this work, we describe a novel self-cleaving affinity tag technology based on a highly modified split-intein cleaving element. In this system, which has recently been commercialized by Protein Capture Science, LLC under the name iCapTag , the N-terminal segment of an engineered split intein is covalently immobilized onto a capture resin, while the smaller C-terminal intein segment is fused to the N-terminus of the desired target protein. The tagged target can then be expressed in an appropriate expression system, without concern for premature intein cleaving.

Background: Streptococcus pyogenes (GAS) is a human bacterial pathogen that generates various mild to severe diseases. Worldwide, there are approximately 700 million cases of GAS infections per year. In some strains of GAS, the surface-resident M-protein, plasminogen-binding group A streptococcal M-protein (PAM), binds directly to human host plasminogen (hPg), where it is activated to plasmin through a mechanism involving a Pg/bacterial streptokinase (SK) complex as well as endogenous activators.

Tubercular empyema thoracis continues to be one of the leading causes of morbidity in low-income countries. Despite antitubercular therapy (ATT) and thoracostomy, empyema drainage is hampered by multiple septations, loculations, debris, and blood clots leading to complications. In a comparative experimental study to estimate the efficacy and safety of intrapleural streptokinase (IPSTK) in tubercular empyema, 30 cases of chronic multiloculated tubercular empyema were compared by radiological improvement by chest radiography, duration and volume of fluid drained, and degree of dyspnoea according to the modified Borg scale, depending on whether streptokinase was used or not.

Background: Percutaneous catheter drainage in pancreatic necrosis with a predominant solid component has a reduced success rate. To improve the efficacy of percutaneous catheter drainage, we used streptokinase in the irrigation fluid in the present study.
Methods: In this retrospective analysis of 4 prospective randomized studies performed at our center from 2014 to 2019, 108 patients were evaluated.
