: Cellular biobanks are of great interest for performing studies finalized in the development of personalized approaches for genetic diseases, including β-thalassemia and sickle cell disease (SCD), important diseases affecting the hematopoietic system. These inherited genetic diseases are characterized by a global distribution and the need for intensive health care. The aim of this report is to present an update on the composition of a cellular Thal-Biobank, to describe its utilization since 2016, to present data on its application in studies on fetal hemoglobin induction and on gene editing, and to discuss its employment as a "unique tool" during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

The functionalization of carbon black (CB) represents a promising strategy to enhance its compatibility with polymers while addressing sustainability concerns. In this study, a solvent-free mechanochemical approach (ball milling) is proposed for the functionalization of oxidized carbon black (oCB) with post-consumed polylactic acid (PLA), overcoming the environmental drawbacks of conventional methods that mostly rely on toxic solvents and catalysts. The functionalized carbon black (f-CB) was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), elemental analysis (EA), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) to confirm the successful modification.

Soil reinforcement is one of the techniques used to enhance the engineer characteristics of the soil. Various techniques can be employed to stabilise problematic soils, such as soft clay. These include the utilisation of portland cement, lime, fly ash, ground freezing, jet grouting, prefabricated vertical drains, and thermal approaches.

Mixtures of multiple surfactants that have superior performance to the individual components are highly sought-after commercially. Mixtures with a reduced Krafft point () are particularly useful as they enable applications at lower temperatures. Such an example is the soap maker's eutectic: the mixture of sodium laurate (NaL) and sodium oleate (NaOl).

Laser conversion of commercial polymers to laser-induced graphene (LIG) using inexpensive and accessible CO lasers has enabled the rapid prototyping of promising electronic and electrochemical devices. Frequently used to pattern interdigitated supercapacitors, few approaches have been developed to pattern batteries-in particular, full cells. Herein, we report an LIG-based approach to a planar, interdigitated Li-S battery.
