We have synthesized the 24-41 fragment of the preS region of the hepatitis B (subtype ayw) envelope. The peptide was prepared by the solid phase synthesis on perfluoropoly-ethylene polymer grafted with polystyrene. The peptide chain was elongated from C-terminus using pentafluorophenyl- and p-nitrophenyl esters of Boc-amino acids. The peptide was cleaved off the solid phase by HBr in CF3COOH, purified by gel filtration, and, after conjugation with serum albumin (BSA), inoculated into mice. The resultant antibodies were shown to react with the peptide. The blood sera from patients with acute hepatitis B reacted with the peptide-BSA conjugates in the immunoenzymic solid phase assay.

Background: ATOR-1017 (evunzekibart) is a human agonistic immunoglobulin G4 antibody targeting the costimulatory receptor 4-1BB (CD137). ATOR-1017 activates T cells and natural killer cells in the tumor environment, leading to immune-mediated tumor cell death.
Methods: In this first-in-human, multicenter, phase I study, ATOR-1017 was administered intravenously every 21 days as a monotherapy to patients with advanced, unresectable solid tumors having received multiple standard-of-care treatments.

Effective fractionation of lignocellulose into hemicellulose, cellulose, and lignin is the precondition for full-component valorization. Generally, harsh reaction conditions are used to improve fractionation efficiency, which leads to severe lignin condensation and inhibits its value-added applications. To address this issue, a novel biphasic system consisting of molten salt hydrates (MSHs) and n-butanol was developed for birch fractionation.

The high specific surface area of metal-organic framework (MOF) materials endows them with efficient adsorption capabilities, thereby facilitating sample purification. In this study, a novel aluminum-based MOF (Al-MOF) was synthesized and employed as a solid-phase extraction (SPE) adsorbent for the purification of aflatoxins B (AFB), AFB, AFG, and AFG in vegetable oils. It was revealed that Al-MOF adsorbs aflatoxins through hydrogen bonding and π-π interactions.

Objective: We report updated results with longer follow-up in patients with MSI-H/dMMR endometrial cancer (EC) in cohort D (advanced EC of any MSI/dMMR status) and cohort K (any MSI-H/dMMR advanced solid tumor, except colorectal) of the phase 2 KEYNOTE-158 study (NCT02628067) and the first results from patients with non-MSI-H/non-dMMR advanced EC (cohort D).
Methods: Patients received pembrolizumab 200 mg Q3W for ≥35 cycles. The primary endpoint was objective response rate (ORR) per RECIST v1.

The performance of Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (UASB) bioreactors treating sulfate (SO) -rich effluents depends on multiple factors, including microbial interactions and operational conditions. The high complexity of these systems necessitates the use of mathematical modelling tools to better understand the process and predict the long-term impacts of various operational variables. In this work, a mathematical model describing the long-term operation of a sulfate-fed 2.
