In esophagogastrostomy during laparoscopically assisted proximal gastrectomy, some problems have occurred; the main ones being reflux esophagitis and the technical difficulty in anastomosis. We have had good results with a hemidouble stapling technique; the center rod of circular stapler is pierced through the left end of the staple line of the stomach. The longest distance from the pylorus to the esophagogastrostomy can be fired in this position. The distance is longer, so alkaline esophagitis is rarer. When the center rod is pierced through the anterior or posterior gastric wall, the operator may be worried about ischemia of the area surrounded by the linear stapler and circular stapler. In hemidouble stapling, an ischemic area is not created at all structurally. Any surgeon can perform a reproducible anastomosis because the place pierced with the center rod is fixed. This technique is easy and safety to operate via minilaparotomy.

Purpose: Augmented rectangle technique (ART) anastomosis is a totally intracorporeal anastomosis of laparoscopic distal gastrectomy (LDG), Billroth I (B1) reconstruction for gastric cancer, which secures a wide anastomotic stoma. Since the conventional extracorporeal hemi-double stapling technique (HD) may have a narrow anastomotic stoma, our aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility and usefulness of ART anastomosis by comparing the surgical outcomes with HD anastomosis.
Methods: Clinical data of 89 patients undergoing LDG with B1 reconstruction were retrospectively collected.

Background: This study aimed to evaluate the surgical outcome and quality of life (QoL) of totally laparoscopic total gastrectomy (TLTG) compared with laparoscopy-assisted total gastrectomy (LATG) in patients with clinical stage I gastric cancer.
Methods: From 2012 to 2018, EGC patients who underwent TLTG (n = 223), including the first case with intracorporeal hemi-double stapling, were matched to those who underwent LATG (n = 114) with extracorporeal circular stapling, using 2:1 propensity score matching (PSM). Prospectively collected morbidity was compared between the TLTG and LATG groups in conjunction with the learning curve.
