A series of 4-anilino-2-(2-pyridyl)pyrimidines has been discovered as a new class of potent inducers of apoptosis using a cell-based HTS assay. Compound 5a was found to arrest T47D cells in G2/M and induced apoptosis. SAR studies showed that a small and electron-donating group at the meta-position of the anilino ring is important for activity. A 20-fold increase in potency, from hit compound 4-(3-methoxyanilino)-2-(2-pyridinyl)-6-(trifluoromethyl)pyrimidine (5a) to lead compound 4-(2,5-dimethoxyanilino)-2-(2-pyridinyl)-6-(trifluoromethyl)pyrimidine (5l), was obtained through the SAR studies. Compound 5l is highly active with an EC50 value of 18 nM in the caspase activation assay in T47D breast cells. Interestingly, 5a and other meta-mono-substituted compounds were active against T47D cells but were not active against H1299 and HT29 cells, while 5l and other 2,5-disubstituted compounds were active against all the three cells. In a tubulin polymerization assay, compound 5l inhibited tubulin polymerization with an IC50 value of < 0.5 microM, while 5a was not active up to 50 microM.

This study focuses on the design, synthesis, and evaluation of benzimidazole derivatives for their anti-tumor activity against A549 and PC-3 cells. Initial screening using the MTT assay identified compound 5m as the most potent inhibitor of A549 cells with an IC of 7.19 μM, which was superior to the positive agents 5-Fluorouracil and Gefitinib.

This review aimed to explore the impact of extrusion on Andean grains, such as quinoa, kañiwa, and kiwicha, highlighting their macromolecular transformations, technological innovations, and contributions to food security. These grains, which are rich in starch, high-quality proteins, and antioxidant compounds, are versatile raw materials for extrusion, a continuous and efficient process that combines high temperatures and pressures to transform structural and chemical components. Extrusion improves the digestibility of proteins and starches, encourages the formation of amylose-lipid complexes, and increases the solubility of dietary fiber.

A novel method was established using a restricted access material combined with a molecularly imprinted polymer (RAM-MIP) as the sorbent material in solid phase extraction (SPE) for clean-up of α-endosulfan, β-endosulfan, endosulfate, endosulfan-ether, endosulfan lactone, heptachlor, heptachlor--epoxide, and heptachlor--epoxide in pork and gas chromatography (GC) for determination. The RAM-MIP was prepared by precipitation polymerization by using endosulfan as the template, methacrylic acid (MAA) as the monomer, glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) as the pro-hydrophilic co-monomer, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as the crosslinker, azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as the initiator, and toluene as the porogen. Ultraviolet spectroscopy (UV) and H-nuclear magnetic resonance (H-NMR) analysis verified that MAA interacted specifically with endosulfan in a ratio of 1 : 1 in the pre-polymerization solution.

The study evaluated the anti-hyperlipidemic effects of myrcenol and curzerene on a high fat diet induced hyperlipidemia rat model. Thirty male albino rats were fed on a high-fat diet for four months. The HFD-induced hyperperlipidemia rats were treated with rosuvastatin (10 mg/kg), curzerene (130 mg/kg) and myrcenol (100 mg/kg) for four weeks.
