A new polyaminocarboxylate ligand derived from N,C-pyrazolylpyridine was synthesized. The luminescence and relaxometry properties of its Tb(3+) and Gd(3+) chelates were investigated in aqueous solutions. The Tb(3+) chelate is strongly luminescent having remarkable lifetime and quantum yield (tau=1.82ms and Phi=0.42). The 1/T(1) proton relaxivity at 20MHz and 25 degrees C (5.3s(-1)mM(-1)) of the Gd(3+) chelate was found to be comparable to that of the clinically used Gd-DTPA.

Background Ischemic late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) assessed with cardiac MRI is a well-established prognosticator in ischemic cardiomyopathy. However, the prognostic value of additional LGE parameters, such as extent, transmurality, location, and associated midwall LGE, remains unclear. Purpose To assess the prognostic value of ischemic LGE features to predict all-cause mortality in ischemic cardiomyopathy.

Scintillators that convert ionizing radiation into low-energy photons are essential for medical diagnostics and industrial inspections. Despite advances in X-ray scintillators, challenges remain in achieving high efficiency, environmental compatibility, stability, and flexibility. Here, we present experimental investigations of a new type of europium(III)-based hybrid ternary complex scintillators for improved X-ray detection and imaging.

In this work, we present an experimental approach for monitoring the temperature of submicrometric, real-time operating electrical circuits using luminescence thermometry. For this purpose, we utilized lanthanide-doped up-converting nanocrystals as nanoscale temperature probes, which, combined with a highly sensitive confocal photoluminescence microscope, enabled temperature monitoring with spatial resolution limited only by the diffraction of light. To validate our concept, we constructed a simple model of an electrical microcircuit based on a single silver nanowire with a diameter of approximately 100 nm and a length of about 50 µm, whose temperature increase was induced by electric current flow.

Bovine serum albumin (BSA) is one of the most abundant proteins in serum, and its high-throughput detection is still one of the current challenges. Nitrogen‑phosphorus co-doped carbon dots (CDs) were synthesized by a hydrothermal method. Adenosine monophosphate (AMP) was used as a precursor for the synthesis of CDs, providing the required carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus sources for the CDs.

An efficient dual-state blue-emitting zinc-based metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), designated as UoZ-8 has been developed. Coordination-induced emission causes the UoZ-8 to give the blue emission in both solid and dispersed form in liquid. Upon the addition of tetracycline (TC), a noticeable shift from blue emission to greenish-yellow emission occurred, with a marked increase in intensity, which was attributed to the inner filter effect accompanied by aggregation-induced emission (IFE-AIE).
