From 1/87 to 12/88, 20 patients with anatomically or functionally inoperable carcinomas of the esophagus (cT1-3/N0-2/M0-1) were treated by endoluminal Ir-192 HDR brachytherapy (1-3 sessions, each 5-7 Gy) and percutaneous irradiation (50-70 Gy/2 Gy). In 10 cases a bouginage or combined dilatation and retrograde Nd-Yag-laser debulking was done before irradiation. The response of the treatment was documented by endoscopy (degree of stenoses) and symptoms (dysphagia score according to De Meester). In 95% of all cases the degree of stenoses was diminished and an improvement of dysphagia was found in 100%. The mean duration of oral uptake of properly chewed food could be prolonged to 308 days.

The aim was to explore the application value of dynamic electroencephalography (EEG) combined with brainstem auditory evoked potential (BAEP) in evaluating the degree of vascular stenosis and prognosis in patients with ischemic stroke (IS). This was a retrospective study using clinical data of patients with IS admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical and Pharmaceutical College from March 2020 to March 2022. The degree of vascular stenosis and prognosis of patients were analyzed.

Intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis (ICAS) is a leading cause of stroke and contributes to recurrent stroke, especially in Asian population. Because of the different pathophysiology and mechanisms of ICAS resulting in ischemic stroke compared to extracranial atherosclerotic stenosis (ECAS), treatment strategies for secondary prevention would be different.

Background: A considerable number of symptomatic patients leave the cardiac catheterization lab without a definitive diagnosis for their symptoms because no epicardial stenoses are found. The significance of disorders of coronary microvasculature and vasomotion as the cause of symptoms and signs of ischemia has only recently been appreciated. Today we have a wide spectrum of invasive coronary physiology tools but little is known about when and how these tools are used in clinical practice.

Background: In-stent restenosis (ISR) is the primary cause of stroke recurrence after intracranial stenting. Drug-eluting stents (DES) have recently shown great potential for reducing restenosis. This systematic review aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of DES compared with bare-metal stents (BMS) for intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis (ICAS).
