Energy landscape mappings are performed for two different molecular systems under mechanical loads. Barrier heights are observed to scale as Delta U approximately delta(3/2), where delta is a residual load. Catastrophe theory predicts that this scaling should arise for vanishing delta; however, this region is irrelevant in physical processes at finite temperature because thermal fluctuations cause the system to cross over the barrier before reaching the small-delta regime. Surprisingly, we find that the Delta U approximately delta(3/2), scaling is valid far beyond the vanishing delta regime described by catastrophe theory. We discuss how this scaling will therefore be relevant at finite temperatures and gives corrections to Eyring's theory for transition rates.

Background: Lower trapezius transfer (LTT) has been proposed for restoring the anteroposterior muscular force couple in the setting of an irreparable posterosuperior rotator cuff tear (PSRCT). Adequate graft tensioning during surgery may be a factor critical for sufficient restoration of shoulder kinematics and functional improvement.
Purpose/hypothesis: The purpose was to evaluate the effect of tensioning during LTT on glenohumeral kinematics using a dynamic shoulder model.

Background: To describe the average effects and the interindividual variability after a comprehensive outpatient cardiovascular rehabilitation (CCR) program using concurrent exercise training prescribed according to cardiovascular risk stratification on cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF), anthropometric/body composition, quality of life and emotional health in patients of four cardiovascular disease profiles. Methods: CRF, anthropometric/body composition, quality of life, and emotional health were measured before and after a CCR and analyzed in heart valve surgery (HVS), heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF), post-acute myocardial infarction (post-AMI), and in coronary artery disease (CAD) patients. Twenty, twenty-four, and thirty-two exercise sessions were prescribed according to mild, moderate, and severe baseline cardiovascular risk, respectively.

Objective: Accurate measurement of T1 slope (a component of T1s minus cervical lordosis [CL]) is often constrained by anatomical limitations. In this situation, efforts should be made to find the exact meaning of T1s-CL and whether there are any alternatives to it.
Methods: We enrolled 117 patients who received two-level anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF).

The cDNA and genomic sequences of IgD and IgZ were characterized in grass carp Ctenopharyngodon idella in the present study, and with the identification of a BAC clone covering zeta, mu, and delta genes, the IgH locus containing these Ig genes and other V, D, J genes was also illustrated in this fish. Secretory and membrane-bound IgZ were identified, with two transmembrane exons spliced within the CH4 exon, as reported in IgM of mammals and IgZ in other teleost fish. The first and second constant domains of IgZ shows more than 90% nucleotide identity with respective domains of grass carp IgM.
