Laparoscopic calicovesicostomy in the horseshoe kidney with ureteropelvic junction obstruction associated with ipsilateral ureteral duplication and a large-capacity bladder is described. The intraoperative and postoperative clinical parameters were satisfactory in this preliminary report. Additional studies are necessary to evaluate this novel surgical procedure.

Background: Ureteropelvic junction (UPJ) obstruction is associated with complex anatomic problems, such as pelvic kidneys, giant hydronephrosis, crossed fused ectopia with L-shaped kidneys, and poses a real challenge in management. In this paper, we describe simple laparoscopic techniques for the management of these cases of atypical and complex UPJ obstruction.
Materials And Methods: From 2004 to 2008, 9 cases of UPJ obstruction with atypical anatomic problems were operated on laparoscopically at PGIMER (Chandigarh, India).

Purpose: We describe novel and simple techniques for management of cases of atypical and complex ureteropelvic junction (UPJ) obstruction.
Material And Methods: Three cases of atypical UPJ obstruction were operated laparoscopically. Calicovesicostomy, pyelovesicostomy and ureteropyelostomy were performed laparoscopically as per the merits of each case.
