Kombucha is a popular fermented beverage that involves fermentation using a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast (SCOBY) and produces bacterial cellulose (BC). Carbon and nitrogen sources are essential in kombucha processing and BC production. However, studies on cost-effective BC production as an alternative source of leather have remained scarce.

This study is the first to explore the effects of the novel yellow pigment monascinol (Msol) from red mold rice (RMR) on reducing body fat and to compare its effects with those of monascin (MS) and ankaflavin (AK). In a high-fat diet-induced rat model, different doses of RMR fermented rice (RL, RM, RH) and purified Msol, MS, and AK were administered over an 8-week period. The results showed that all treatment groups significantly reduced body weight and fat mass.

Colour is an integral part of natural and constructed environments. For many, it also has an aesthetic appeal, with some colours being more pleasant than others. Moreover, humans seem to systematically and reliably associate colours with emotions, such as yellow with joy, black with sadness, light colours with positive and dark colours with negative emotions.

The advancement of lanthanide fingerprint sensors characterized by targeted emission responses and low self-fluorescence interference for the detection of biothiols is of considerable importance for the early diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Herein, the lanthanide "personality function tailoring" HOF composite sensor array is designed for the specific discrimination of biothiols (GSH, Cys, and Hcy) based on the activation of various luminescent molecules, such as r-AuNCs/luminol via HOF surface proximity. Lumi-HOF@Ce serves as a versatile platform for catalyzing the oxidation of -phenylenediamine (OPD) to generate yellow fluorescent oligomers, accompanied by the fluorescence attenuation of luminol.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the in vitro effects of coffee exposure on the color and roughness of conventional and bulk-fill resin composites, with and without surface pre-reacted glass-ionomer (S-PRG) filler.
Methodology: Forty-eight cylindrical samples (Ø6 mm × 2 mm) were prepared and categorized as follows (n = 12 per group): conventional nano-hybrid (Tetric N-Ceram, Ivoclar); nano-hybrid with S-PRG filler (Beautifil II, Shofu); bulk-fill (Tetric N-Ceram Bulk Fill, Ivoclar); and bulk-fill with S-PRG filler (Beautifil Bulk Restorative, Shofu). The samples were assessed for surface roughness (Ra, μm), color coordinates (CIE Lb), and overall color change (ΔE, ΔE).
