Bronchoscopic imaging and diagnostics are tightly connected with radiological and pathological techniques. While computer tomography (virtual bronchoscopy) makes possible to mimic a realistic endobronchial situation, autofluorescent bronchoscopy holds significant potential to discover precancerous lesions not identifiable by standard bronchoscopy. Endoscopic ultrasound and fluoroscopy can be applied in order to obtain images and tissue samples from the extrabronchial areas. Electromagnetic navigation during flexible bronchoscopy, a novel technology that facilitates approaching peripheral lung lesions, involves creating an electromagnetic field around the thorax and localizing an endoscopic tool using a microsensor overlaid upon previously acquired CT images. In conclusion, parallel use of invasive and non-invasive imaging has the potential for considerable improvements in the diagnostic possibilities of routine bronchoscopic procedures.

Introduction Tumor staging is essential for determining treatment strategies and predicting prognosis in cancer patients. Accurate imaging techniques are critical for staging, metastasis screening, treatment response assessment, and recurrence detection. Objective In this prospective study, we aimed to compare the sensitivity of whole-body diffusion-weighted imaging (WB-DWI) with positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) in detecting metastases.

Background: Multi-slice spiral computed tomography (CT) angiography (MSCTA) has become the primary non-invasive image technique for evaluating cephalic and cervical vascular anatomy, especially vascular variant such as persistent carotid-basilar anastomosis. Persistent proatlantal intersegmental artery (PPIA) is an example of a rare persistent carotid-basilar anastomosis that deserves to be featured through this imaging technic.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to explore the imaging characteristics of the PPIA using MSCTA and to assess its clinical significance.

Electronic address:

Supramalleolar osteotomy (SMO) aims to correct extra-articular deformities of the distal lower leg. There are several indications, the most common being varus osteoarthritis of the ankle. The rationale in this indication is to modify talocrural stress and pressure distribution by reorienting the limb axis.

Trends in the Use of Weightbearing Computed Tomography.

J Clin Med

September 2024

Department of Foot and Ankle Surgery, Ramsay Healthcare, Clinique de l'Union, 31240 Saint Jean, France.

This review aimed to critically appraise the most recent orthopedic literature around cone beam weightbearing computed tomography (WBCT), summarizing what evidence has been provided so far and identifying the main research trends in the area. This scoping review was performed on studies published between January 2013 and December 2023 on the Pubmed database. All studies (both clinical and nonclinical) in which WBCT had been used were critically analyzed to extract the aim (or aims) of the study, and the main findings related to the role of this imaging modality in the diagnostic pathway.

The thymus, a primary lymphoid organ, plays a critical role in T lymphocyte development and adaptive immunity. This study focuses on the anatomical, histological and geometric morphometric characteristics of the thymus in dromedary camels (Camelus dromedarius) during postnatal development. Thymus samples were collected from camels aged approximately 4, 8, 12 and 16 months.
