We present the case of a 24 year old man who suffered from severe chronic esophagitis and an esophageal stricture. He was managed by gastric pull-up but complicated by leakage of the anastomosis. Subsequent sophageasurgical treatment with free jejunal graft was performed and the rationale for the technique selected is discussed.

This study aimed to investigate the effects of fermented bamboo powder (FBP) on antioxidant status, gut hormone activities, intestinal digestive enzyme activities, gut morphological structure, gastrointestinal development, and the expression of nutritional transporter genes in dwarf yellow-feather broiler chickens. Total pharyngo-laryngo-esophagectomy (TPLE) with free jejunal transplantation (FJT) is the standard reconstructive procedure for hypopharyngeal cancer, typically utilizing the superior thyroid artery as the recipient vessel. However, patient-specific anatomical variations and comorbidities can significantly complicate this surgery. We present a unique case of a 68-year-old male with hypopharyngeal cancer who exhibited multiple challenges, including short stature (126 cm), low weight (35 kg), cervical spondylosis, and a history of vertebroplasty, highlighting the complexities inherent in such reconstructions.

Enterotoxigenic (ETEC) is a major pathogen causing diarrhea in humans and animals, with increasing antimicrobial resistance posing a growing challenge in recent years. Lytic bacteriophages (phages) offer a targeted and environmentally sustainable approach to combating bacterial infections, particularly in eliminating drug-resistant strains. In this study, ETEC strains were utilized as indicators, and a stable, high-efficiency phage, designated vB_EcoM_JE01 (JE01), was isolated from pig farm manure.
