The aim of this study was to assess the area of surplus X-ray radiation (surplus area) of three image intensifiers (I.I.) of two angiography X-ray units. Surplus area refers to an area surrounded with a circular collimator and effective field of view (FOV). Dose-area product (DAP) was used to measure surplus X-rays. A ratio of surplus area when based on each FOV showed an 8% to 39.3% increase with expansion of FOV, surplus area showed an 18 cm(2) to 95 cm(2) decrease with FOV. When the circular collimator was narrowed to a degree that could be confirmed partially in effective FOV, the rate of surplus area was decreased almost as much as the rate of scattered radiation. Surface dose was almost unchanged. The radiation exposure of the physician as well as that of the patient was reduced by the reduction of surplus area. The DAP meter, while a tool for patient radiation exposure management, is also highly useful for machinery management such as the measurement of surplus area at the I.I. system.

Background: Point-of-care ultrasound is increasingly used across medical specialties, calling for timely and relevant ultrasound education in specialty training. To enable customizing such education, we aimed to explore medical interns' received ultrasound education during medical school and internship, perceived scanning competencies, evaluation of received education, future expectations for using ultrasound, and tendencies for perceiving ultrasound competence.

Methods: This was a national cross-sectional study.

Sharing demand information in competing supply chains with greening efforts.

J Environ Manage

December 2024

Operations and Supply Chain Management, MBS School of Business, Montpellier, France. Electronic address:

This study considers a supply chain model wherein the retailers have private information about demand and the manufacturers undertake greening efforts. First, we consider a base model with one manufacturer and retailer to analyze the manufacturer's greening decisions under demand information sharing. Then, we extend the model by considering two competing supply chains, each comprising one manufacturer and one retailer.

Tracing the source of nitrate is the key path to solve the problem of nitrogen pollution. However, the seasonal difference of nitrate sources in groundwater and surface water and its dynamic evolution process and mechanism in large fresh water lake area are still not clear. In this study, 126 water samples were collected from groundwater and surface water in China's largest fresh water lake (Poyang Lake) region from 2022 to 2023.
