The aim of this work is to simulate the formation of colloidal rings, circular clusters, and voids induced by oily lenses at the air-water interface. The presence of two liquids with different surface tension leads to the formation of a nonhomogeneous interface. In this case, the total interaction potential is assumed to be composed of only two terms; the first one is due to the (repulsive) pairwise dipolar force between partly immersed charged microspheres, whereas the second depends on the position of the particle at the interface and is connected to the interfacial stress caused by the difference of surface tension between both liquids. This simple potential is able to reproduce the experimental rings, circular clusters and voids found by different authors.

Exploring innovative and sustainable routes for the production of biodegradable biomass-based materials is critical to promote a circular carbon economy and carbon neutrality goals. Fossil-based non-biodegradable plastic waste poses a nonnegligible threat to humans and the ecological environment, and biomass-based functional materials are becoming increasingly viable alternatives. Lignin, a naturally occurring macromolecular polymer, is green and renewable resource rich in aromatic rings, with biodegradability, biocompatibility, and excellent processability for eco-friendly composites.

HOP-graphene is a graphene structural derivative consisting of 5-, 6-, and 8-membered carbon rings with distinctive electrical properties. This paper presents a systematic investigation of the effects of varying sizes, strain rates, temperatures, and defects on the mechanical properties of HOP-graphene, utilizing molecular dynamics simulations. The results revealed that Young's modulus of HOP-graphene in the armchair direction is 21.

Background: Populus tomentosa, known as Chinese white poplar, is indigenous and distributed across large areas of China, where it plays multiple important roles in forestry, agriculture, conservation, and urban horticulture. However, limited accessibility to the mitochondrial (mt) genome of P. tomentosa impedes phylogenetic and population genetic analyses and restricts functional gene research in Salicaceae family.

Background And Objective: TRIV is a new and promising technique based on the fact that Vulva can be divided into three circular zones based on anatomy, embryology, and histology- Outer, Middle, and Inner ring. The Vulvoscopy Index and N-S-P scheme are objective tools to improve the systematization of vulvoscopy findings and to simplify information management using TRIV.
Methods: Hundred women with vulvar complaints (Cases) and 100 asymptomatic women (Controls) underwent TRIV and findings were documented as per N-S-P Scheme and Vulvoscopy Index.

Contamination of chars with dioxin-like polychlorinated biphenyls (dl-PCB) significantly limits their use and hinders their deployment in the circular bioeconomy, specifically in applications that may lead to dietary exposure. Here, for the first time, we review the levels of contamination of chars produced from pyrolysis and hydrothermal carbonisation (HTC) with dl-PCB congeners. We conduct a detailed and critical examination of the role played by the processing parameters, such as temperature and residence time, and the reaction mechanisms, to detoxify the biomass under an oxygen-free atmosphere during its valorisation.
