Due to patient safety, time limitations, and procedural complexity, the intraoperative setting is not ideal for technical practice. This study investigates the process of planning for future inpatient resources (beds, staff and costs) for maternity (pregnancy and childbirth) services. The process of planning is approached from a patient-centered philosophy; hence, how do we discharge a suitably rested healthy mother who is fully capable of caring for the newborn baby back into the community? This demonstrates some of the difficulties in predicting future births and investigates trends in the average length of stay. While it is relatively easy to document longer-term (past) trends in births and the conditions relating to pregnancy and birth, it is exceedingly difficult to predict the future nature of such trends.

Over the past two decades, genomic sequencing (exome and genome) has proven to be critical in providing a faster and more accurate diagnosis as well as tailored treatment plans for a variety of populations. Despite its potential, disparities in access to genomic sequencing persist, predominantly among underrepresented and socioeconomically disadvantaged groups and populations. This inequity stems from factors such as: 1) high costs of sequencing, 2) significant gaps in insurance coverage, 3) limited availability of genetic services in many healthcare institutions and geographic areas, and 4) lack of diversity in genetic research and databases.

Objective: This study aimed to bridge the educational gap in clinical informatics (CI) at the residency level and stimulate interest in CI as a rewarding career path.
Methods: We developed an innovative CI and quality improvement (QI) resident rotation. This rotation replaced traditional QI blocks for Internal Medicine and several other residency programs, offering comprehensive exposure to core informatics and QI principles.
Purpose: Several studies have demonstrated that female physicians within specific specialties are compensated less than their male counterparts. Academic institutions seek to address this using Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) data for benchmarking and starting salary standardization. However, few studies address whether there is an association between percentage of women across specialties and mean salary for each specialty.
