The tako-tsubo syndrome is a transient cardiomyopathy of unknown origin, which mimics acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction in the absence of obstructive epicardial coronary artery disease. This novel syndrome is characterized by chest pain, ST-segment changes, minimal enzymatic release, and balloon-like asynergy of the apical region. We report a case of tako-tsubo syndrome associated with acute cytomegalovirus infection and discuss the possible role of a viral aetiology in the onset of this syndrome.

Background: Takotsubo syndrome (TTS) primarily manifests as a cardiomyopathy induced by physical or emotional stress, remains a poorly understood condition with no established treatments. In this study, we investigated the potential of sacubitril/valsartan (sac/val) to increase the survival of TTS patients and reduce inflammation and myocardial fibrosis in experimental models.
Aim: This study aimed to evaluate whether sac/val could improve survival rates in TTS patients, mitigate cardiac remodeling in vivo, and explore its anti-inflammatory and antifibrotic mechanisms in vitro.

Unlabelled: Stress-induced cardiomyopathy is a condition of acute myocardial suppression following an abrupt release of endogenous catecholamines after emotional or physical stress. The exact mechanism is unknown but there are reports of a similar clinical presentation after injection of exogenous catecholamines such as beta agonists. We report a rare type of stress-induced cardiomyopathy following injection of dobutamine during a diagnostic stress echocardiography.

Our case report characterizes a rare presentation of mid-ventricular Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TTC) in a patient with suspected myocarditis as an underlying cause. Mid-ventricular TTC is a rare variant of TTC presenting with overlapping symptoms and physical exam findings of acute coronary syndrome, which often leads to misdiagnosis as myocardial infarction. Our case is of a 77-year-old female patient with a history of hyperlipidemia, right breast ductal carcinoma in situ, and diverticular disease who presented to the emergency department for evaluation of chest pain radiating to the jaw with associated nausea and vomiting.
