High internal phase o/w emulsions have been investigated with respect to stability. A series of aliphatic hydrocarbons were used as the oil component. By matching the refractive index of both phases, transparent, concentrated emulsions were produced and these emulsions were found to have the highest long-term stability. The long-term stability of transparent emulsions is attributed to a minimum in free energy at the equilibrium thickness, which, in turn, is related to a reduced attraction over the thin aqueous lamellae. Another factor that contributes to the stability is the absence of the destabilizing mechanisms commonly encountered for ordinary emulsions and foams.

Systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases (SARDs) consist of a broad range of immune-mediated multisystem diseases. They are chronic, incurable illnesses that often present in early to mid-life and can be associated with a high symptom burden, disability, and early mortality. Treatment guidelines for similar chronic, life-limiting conditions with uncertain disease courses now recommend palliative care (PC) assessment at the time of diagnosis.

Importance: Patients with urgency urinary incontinence are often recommended to avoid bladder irritants, but there is a lack of evidence for this.
Objective: The aim of the study was to compare consumption of purported bladder irritants between women with and without urgency urinary incontinence.
Study Design: We performed a case-control study of nonpregnant females aged ≥20 years using the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 2007-2020.

Human-induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) technology has been applied in pathogenesis studies, drug screening, tissue engineering, and stem cell therapy, and patient-specific hiPSC-derived cardiomyocytes (hiPSC-CMs) have shown promise in disease modeling, including diabetic cardiomyopathy. High glucose (HG) treatment induces lipotoxicity in hiPSC-CMs, as evidenced by changes in cell size, beating rate, calcium handling, and lipid accumulation. Empagliflozin, an SGLT2 inhibitor, effectively mitigates the hypertrophic changes, abnormal calcium handling, and contractility impairment induced by HG.

Purpose: Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a well described and potentially fatal complication of trastuzumab-deruxtecan (T-DXd). It is currently unknown if specific monitoring is beneficial in the early detection of ILD in these patients. We describe the efficacy and feasibility of a novel ILD monitoring protocol in breast cancer patients treated with T-DXd at our institution.
