The Authors, on the basis of their experience on the use of self-expanding prostheses in abdominal surgery, report on the use of these prostheses in two patients who, having undergone a gastrectomy for cancer, developed a fistula of the esophago-jejunal anastomosis. Given recent data from literature, using a prosthesis for an anastomotic fistula may be a valid alternative to a second operation, which, apart from obvious difficulties, has a high mortality rate in patients in weakened general health conditions. In these cases, after the application of a stent, excellent results can be obtained and, after some days, the patients can begin a semi-liquid diet, then proceeding to a semi-solid diet, improving quality of life; in addition, within a reasonable time span, after the healing of the fistula, the prosthesis can easily be removed by endoscopy.

Objective: Aim: To evaluate the early postoperative results of surgical treatment of patients with inguinal hernias after laparoscopic transabdominal preperitoneal inguinal hernia repair (TAPP) using invasive and non-invasive methods of fixation of prosthetic material.
Patients And Methods: Materials and Methods: The study included 76 patients (average age 61,4±15,3 years; 69 [91 %] males, 7 [9 %] females) with primary uncomplicated unilateral inguinal hernias who underwent TAPP. Patients were divided into two groups: group 1 - 52 patients in whom the AbsorbaTack fixation device was used to secure the mesh; group 2 - 24 patients in whom the LiquiBand FIX8 cyanoacrylate adhesive was used.

Maxillary sinusitis is a recognized complication following dental procedures, but its occurrence after orthognathic surgery, such as Le Fort osteotomies, remains less documented. This case report presents a 58-year-old female who developed unilateral maxillary sinusitis 23 years post-orthognathic surgery. The patient was asymptomatic, aside from occasional cacosmia, and was incidentally found to have sinus opacification on a computed tomography (CT) scan performed for implant-prosthetic rehabilitation.
