Background: A recently conducted randomized, phase III study that compared irinotecan plus cisplatin (IP) with etoposide plus cisplatin for the patients with extensive disease SCLC revealed a superior median survival rate and a superior 2-year survival rate for the IP combination therapy. Yet there have been few such reports on the patients suffering with limited disease SCLC (LD-SCLC). We conducted a phase II trial to evaluate the efficacy and toxicity of administering IP with concurrent radiotherapy for the patients with LD-SCLC.

Patients And Methods: Twenty chemotherapy-naïve patients with LD-SCLC were enrolled in our study. The patients were treated with 40 mg/m(2) irinotecan on days 1, 8 and 15 and with 60 mg/m(2) cisplatin on day 1 every 4 weeks until a maximum of six cycles was delivered. Once-daily radiotherapy included the administration of 50.4 Gy in 28 fractions. After completion of the radiation therapy, the dose of irinotecan was increased to 60 mg/m(2).

Results: The response rate was 85% (CR: 6; partial response, PR: 11). The median survival was 20.0 months (95% CI: 15.6-24.4 months) with 1-year and 2-year overall survival rates of 85 and 35%, respectively. The median progression free survival (PFS) was 12 months (95% CI: 6.2-18.1 months) with a 1-year PFS of 36%. The major hematologic toxicities of this regimen were neutropenia (60%), leukopenia (55%), anemia (20%) and thrombocytopenia (10%). The non-hematologic toxicities were nausea/vomiting (55%), diarrhea (35%) and dysphagia (15%).

Conclusions: Our data show that IP with concurrent radiotherapy is an effective and tolerable regimen for the treatment of LD-SCLC and these findings warrant further investigation.

Phototherapy presents an effective approach for treating localized methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections; however, the tradeoff between therapeutic efficacy and negative off-target effect persists. To address these issues, we have developed a nanoparticle-hydrogel superstructure comprising phototherapeutic liposomal nanobubbles (NB) and fat extract (FE) encapsulated by F-127 hydrogel. After local administration to sites of MRSA infection, the superstructure effectively neutralizes high levels of MRSA toxins to protect against toxin-mediated cytotoxicity through loaded, which can also be leveraged to enhance anti-MRSA efficacy via toxin-regulated on-demand phototherapy upon near-infrared irradiation.

Introduction: Chemoradiation therapy (CRT) with concurrent high-dose cisplatin (CDDP) is one of the standard treatment options for locally advanced head and neck cancer. Since the indications specific to the older population have not been reported, we conducted a multicenter survey on the indications.

Methods: In April and May 2023, a questionnaire survey was emailed to all institutions belonging to the JCOG-HNCSG, consisting of 37 institutions.

Background: Effective diagnostic tools for prompt identification of high-risk locally advanced cervical cancer (LACC) patients are needed to facilitate early, individualized treatment. The aim of this work was to assess temporal changes in tumor radiomics (delta radiomics) from T2-weighted imaging (T2WI) during concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) in LACC patients, and their association with progression-free survival (PFS). Furthermore, to develop, validate, and compare delta- and pretreatment radiomic signatures for prognostic modeling.

Background: No study has directly compared the outcomes of surgery and concurrent chemoradiotherapy (cCRT) in patients with stage III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) to date. This study aimed to compare the treatment efficacy of complete resection and definitive cCRT.

Methods: Patients were recruited in this retrospective study from Yokohama Municipal Citizens' Hospital between January 2013 and December 2022.

Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields) has emerged as a significant adjunctive component in the treatment of high-grade gliomas following the EF-14 trial in 2017. The incorporation of TTFields, alongside cyclic temozolomide therapy, has demonstrated improved patient outcomes when the usage exceeds 18 h per day (75% usage). analysis of the EF-14 trial has demonstrated that therapy usage exceeding 90% is associated with an additional benefit, while rates above 50% have also proven effective in literature.
