Axial radiographic spondyloarthritis (r-axSpA) is a chronic inflammatory joint disease that leads to a considerable decline in the quality of life of patients by impairment of function and mobility, which, in turn, brings about a deterioration of both physical and mental health. Osteoporosis (OP) is a significant issue in the course of r-axSpA. Fractures resulting from OP complicate the treatment of the underlying disease and reduce the quality of life of patients.

Body composition is a determinant of physical fitness and sports performance. To describe the anthropometric characteristics, body composition, somatotype, and asymmetries of the 2023 world champion in the C1-1000 canoeing event. Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA), bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), and anthropometry were used to describe the athlete's body composition.

We investigated in women of Asian Indian descent in Mauritius, a population inherently prone to abdominal obesity, whether those with PCOS will show a more adverse cardiometabolic risk profile that could be explained by abnormalities in fat distribution. Methods Young women newly diagnosed with PCOS (n=25) were compared with a reference control cohort (n =139) for the following measurements made after an overnight fast: body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), body composition by dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry, blood pressure and blood assays for glycemic (glucose, HbA1c, insulin) and lipid (triglycerides, cholesterols) profiles.

Zinc has been shown to stimulate osteoblastic bone formation and mineralization and inhibit osteoclastic bone resorption. Although osteoporosis is highly prevalent among patients undergoing hemodialysis, the utility of areal bone mineral density (aBMD) measured using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) is limited because DXA cannot reveal bone microarchitectural alterations.

Background: Menopause is a significant phase in women's health, in which the incidence of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is significantly increased. Body fat distribution changes with age and hormone levels in postmenopausal women, but the extent to which changes in body fat distribution affect the occurrence of OSA is unclear.
Methods: This research performed a cross-sectional analysis utilizing data from the 2015-2016 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES).
