Objectives: To illustrate the value of diffusion tensor imaging and tractography in the diagnosis and follow-up of central pontine myelinolysis.

Case Report: We report a case of central pontine myelinolysis in a 29 year old woman, also anorexic, studied using MR Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) and Fibre Tracking (FT) focused on the pons, and compared with the studies of 5 normal volunteers. Tractography showed a swollen aspect of the right corticospinal fiber tract correlating with mild left lower extremity deficit at clinical evaluation. The pontine fibers were posteriorly displaced but intact. The sensory tracts were also intact. Apparent Diffusion Coefficient values were increased and Fractional Anisotropy was decreased in the lesions. Follow up imaging showed persistent abnormal ADC and FA values in the pons although the left cortico-spinal tract returned to normal, consistent with the clinical outcome.

Conclusion: Diffusion Tensor Imaging MR and Fiber tractography are a new method to analyse white matter tracts. It can be used to prospectively evaluate the location of white matter tract lesions at the acute phase of central pontine myelinolysis and follow up.

Objectives: To assess glymphatic function and white matter integrity in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) using multi-parametric MRI, combined with machine learning to evaluate ASD detection performance.

Materials And Methods: This retrospective study collected data from 110 children with ASD (80 exploratory, 43 validation) and 68 typically developing children (50 exploratory, 18 validation) from two centers. The automated diffusion tensor imaging along the perivascular space (aDTI-ALPS), fractional anisotropy (FA), cerebrospinal fluid volume, and perivascular space (PVS) volume indices were extracted from DTI, three-dimensional T1-weighted, and T2-weighted images.

Imaging the entire cardiomyocyte network in entire small animal hearts at single cell resolution is a formidable challenge. Optical microscopy provides sufficient contrast and resolution in 2d, however fails to deliver non-destructive 3d reconstructions with isotropic resolution. It requires several invasive preparation steps, which introduce structural artefacts, namely dehydration, physical slicing and staining, or for the case of light sheet microscopy also clearing of the tissue.

Diffusion tensor imaging for detecting biomarkers of idiopathic epilepsy in dogs.

Front Vet Sci

Department of Clinical Studies, Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph, Guelph, ON, Canada.

Idiopathic epilepsy (IE) is the most common neurological disease in dogs. Approximately 1/3 of dogs with IE are resistant to anti-seizure medications (ASMs). Because the diagnosis of IE is largely based on the exclusion of other diseases, it would be beneficial to indicate an IE biomarker to better understand, diagnose, and treat this disease.

Background: Photon-counting computed tomography (CT) is an advanced imaging technique that enables multi-energy imaging from a single scan. However, the limited photon count assigned to narrow energy bins leads to increased quantum noise in the reconstructed spectral images. To address this issue, leveraging the prior information in the spectral images is essential.

Objectives: To investigate glymphatic function in idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) using the diffusion tensor image analysis along the perivascular space (DTI-ALPS) method and to explore the associations of ALPS index with ventriculomegaly and white matter hyperintensities (WMH).

Materials And Methods: This study included 41 patients with iNPH and 40 age- and sex-matched normal controls (NCs). All participants underwent brain MRI.
