Article Abstract

A branching DOS strategy for an unbiased natural product-like library with embedded privileged benzopyran motif was established to provide complexity and diversity of resulting heterocycles with desired drug-likeness. The importance of skeletal diversity conducted on a privileged substructure was demonstrated through the biological evaluation of a small molecule library representing 22 unique core skeletons via in vitro cytotoxicity assay.

Skilled midwifery care for LGBTQIA+ people is a human right, however LGBTQIA+ people have been under-served in perinatal care by the privileging of cisgender heterosexual endosex women as recipients of care. The education of midwives and other professionals to provide LGBTQIA+ inclusive care is a critical component of wider strategies to address LGBTQIA+ discrimination in perinatal care. This paper responds to this challenge by discussing an innovative and holistic approach to introducing and embedding LGBTQIA+ health equity into one midwifery education programme in Aotearoa New Zealand.

"Searching for equity: White normativity in online skin cancer images".

In this paper, we examine the range of skin tones represented in publicly available online image search results through which non-medical audiences might seek information about skin cancer signs, symptoms, and risks. We use the Fitzpatrick scale, a numerical classification system grouping six human skin tones (or "phototypes") in dermatology, as a guide for analyzing the skin tones appearing in (n = 1600) Google image search results for search terms related to skin cancer. We find that light skin tones (1,2, and 3 on the Fitzpatrick scale) comprise the significant majority (roughly 96%) of those depicted in Google image searches of information about skin cancer signs and prevention; dark skin tones (4, 5, and 6 on the Fitzpatrick scale) appear with significantly less frequency (roughly 4%) in the same search results.

Background: As cultural contexts have gained increasing relevance in medical decision-making, the current mainstream definition of autonomy is insufficient. A viable alternative framework, relational autonomy posits that agents' actions are influenced by and embedded in society and culture rather than occurring in isolation. To test the concept's applicability, we examine whether Asian Americans in the study's sample operationalize relational autonomy as a decisional approach in hypothetical scenarios about organ donation, a practice for which there is considerably lower enthusiasm compared to other racial groups in the US.
