Background: Dental implantation of bone reconstructions in oncologic situations improves patients' orofacial function and quality of life. There are currently no recommendations on the timing of implantation.
Methods: This systematic review with meta-analysis aimed to compare primary and secondary dental implantation of free bone flaps in reconstructions for malignant tumors of the oral cavity.

Background: CT angiography (CTA) is used for preoperative localization in deep inferior epigastric perforator (DIEP) flaps, but is an additional costly study that involves contrast and radiation exposure. Many patients with head and neck cancer already undergo PET/CT. We investigated if PET/CT could be used to preoperatively localize perforators and if this corresponded with the intraoperative location.

We carried out a cadaver study using 10 fresh-frozen adult legs and hands to explore technical feasibility and reproducibility of the free Medial Sural Artery Perforator flap and its applicability for covering soft tissue defects in the hand. A mean of 2 cutaneous perforators (1-4) were found. Each flap had a pedicle composed of a main perforator that arose from the medial sural artery.
