Contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM) is growing in clinical use due to its increased sensitivity and specificity compared to full-field digital mammography (FFDM) and/or digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT), particularly in patients with dense breasts. To perform an intraindividual comparison of MGD between FFDM, DBT, a combination protocol using both FFDM and DBT (combined FFDM-DBT), and CEM, in patients undergoing breast cancer screening. This retrospective study included 389 women (median age, 57.

Intrapatient Changes in CT-Based Body Composition After Initiation of Semaglutide (Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 Receptor Agonist) Therapy.

AJR Am J Roentgenol

December 2024

Department of Radiology, University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, E3/311 Clinical Science Center, 600 Highland Ave, Madison, WI 53792-3252.

The long-acting glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist semaglutide is used to treat type 2 diabetes or obesity in adults. Clinical trials have observed associations of semaglutide with weight loss, improved control of diabetes, and cardiovascular risk reduction. The purpose of this study was to evaluate intrapatient changes in body composition after initiation of semaglutide therapy by applying an automated suite of CT-based artificial intelligence (AI) body composition tools.

Lung Cancer Staging Using Chest CT and FDG PET/CT Free-Text Reports: Comparison Among Three ChatGPT Large Language Models and Six Human Readers of Varying Experience.

AJR Am J Roentgenol

December 2024

Department of Radiology, Research Institute for Convergence of Biomedical Science and Technology, Pusan National University Yangsan Hospital, Pusan National University School of Medicine, 20, Geumo-ro, Mulgeum-eup, Yangsan 50612, Korea.

Although radiology reports are commonly used for lung cancer staging, this task can be challenging given radiologists' variable reporting styles as well as reports' potentially ambiguous and/or incomplete staging-related information. The purpose of this study was to compare the performance of ChatGPT large language models (LLMs) and human readers of varying experience in lung cancer staging using chest CT and FDG PET/CT free-text reports. This retrospective study included 700 patients (mean age, 73.

CT is the standard-of-care test for preoperative locoregional staging of colon cancer (CC) but has limited diagnostic performance. More accurate preoperative staging would guide selection among expanding patient-tailored treatment options. The purpose of this study was to evaluate through systematic review the diagnostic performance of MRI for T and N staging and that of FDG PET/CT for N staging in the locoregional staging of CC.

Retrospective studies evaluating artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms for intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) detection on noncontrast CT (NCCT) have shown promising results but lack prospective validation. The purpose of this article was to evaluate the impact on radiologists' real-world aggregate performance for ICH detection and report turnaround times for ICH-positive examinations of a radiology department's implementation of an AI triage and notification system for ICH detection on head NCCT examinations. This prospective single-center study included adult patients who underwent head NCCT examinations from May 12, 2021, to June 30, 2021 (phase 1), or from September 30, 2021, to December 4, 2021 (phase 2).
