Carotid artery stenting (CAS) has emerged as a useful and potentially less-invasive alternative to carotid endarterectomy (CEA) for treatment of extracranial carotid stenoses. It has been suggested that specific patient subgroups, including those with significant medical comorbidities, recurrent stenosis, anatomically inaccessible lesions, and a hostile neck, might benefit from CAS. The purpose of this report is to evaluate whether or not CAS should replace CEA in the treatment of the high-risk patient. Results from a recently published randomized clinical trial and several individual center and multicenter case analyses will be used in this review.

: Developing ex vivo models that replicate immune-tumor interactions with high fidelity is essential for advancing immunotherapy research, as traditional two-dimensional in vitro systems often lack the complexity required to fully represent these interactions. : In this study, we establish a comprehensive 3D redirect lysis (3D-RDL) assay using colorectal cancer spheroids and adult stem cell-derived, healthy human organoids to evaluate the efficacy and safety profile of , a bispecific antibody targeting carcinoembryonic antigens (CEAs) on cancer cells and CD3 on T cells. This model allows us to assess cytotoxic activity and immune responses, capturing variations in therapeutic response not observable in simpler systems.

Background: Thoracic SMARCA4-deficient undifferentiated tumors (SMARCA4-UT) exhibit a notably aggressive phenotype, which is associated with poor patient survival outcomes. These tumors are generally resistant to conventional cytotoxic chemotherapy, thereby limiting the availability of effective treatment options.
Case Presentation: We describe a 69-year-old AIDS patient who initially presented with a fused, enlarged lymph node on the right clavicle and mild, unexplained pain under the right axilla that worsened with severe coughing episodes.

Introduction: Low grade appendiceal mucinous neoplasms (LAMN) are indolent tumors that lack invasive potential but may present as pseudomyxoma peritonei. Cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) significantly improves both overall and recurrence free survival. While systemic chemotherapy is generally considered ineffective for LAMN, little literature is available to support this notion.

Based on previously published US Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) cost-effectiveness analyses (CEAs), metformin continues to be promoted as "cost-effective." We reviewed a 10-year CEA to assess this. Treatment alternatives included placebo, branded metformin and individual lifestyle modification.
