Covalent derivatization of the acidic functional groups in oxidized graphite with octadecylamine renders graphite soluble in common organic solvents. Atomic force microscopic characterization of the soluble species supports the idea that the solutions consist of single and few layer graphene sheets, and we report the first solution properties of graphite.

Background: Hemodialysis may excessively remove valuable solutes. Untargeted metabolomics data from a prior study suggested that ergothioneine was depleted in the plasma of hemodialysis subjects. Ergothioneine is a dietary-derived solute with antioxidant properties.

Terahertz (THz) signals are crucial for ultrawideband communication and high-resolution radar, demanding miniaturized detectors that can simultaneously measure multiple parameters such as intensity, frequency, polarization, and phase. Traditional detectors fail to meet these needs. To address this, we introduce a plasmon polariton atomic cavity (PPAC) detector based on monolayer graphene, offering a multifunctional, monolithic, and miniaturized solution.

The aim of the study was to investigate the influence of the nitrocarburizing process carried out in low temperature plasma using the active screen at 440 °C on the structure and physicochemical properties of the 316LVM steel. In the paper, results of micro-structure and phase composition of the layers, roughness, and surface wettability, potentiodynamic pitting corrosion resistance, penetration of ions into the solution as well as biological tests were present. The studies were conducted for the samples of both mechanically polished and nitrocarburized surfaces, after sterilization, and exposure to the Ringer's solution.

Background: If the GFR falls far enough, uremic symptoms such as anorexia and nausea prompt the initiation of dialysis. Thrice weekly hemodialysis can prevent recurrence of these symptoms even when patients become anuric. To accomplish this it must maintain the plasma levels of the uremic solutes which cause these symptoms lower than they were when dialysis was initiated.

Today, weed control in agricultural systems is largely based on the use of synthetic pesticides. However, the use of these compounds is increasingly controversial among farmers and consumers, who point to their harmful properties for human health and the environment. In this context, the development of eco-friendly agricultural approaches and practices is becoming essential, and allelopathy represents a promising solution.
