January 2025
Department of EICU, Wenzhou Central Hospital; The Dingli Clinical College of Wenzhou Medical University, Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, China.
Purpose: This study aimed to assess the levels and sources of noise in the emergency intensive care unit (EICU) of an emergency department and investigate their effects on the sleep quality of conscious patients.
Methods: A study was conducted on patients admitted to the EICU from December 2020 to December 2023. They were categorised according to their sleep quality with the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index.

Purpose: The respiratory rate-oxygenation (ROX) index is used to predict high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) success in acute respiratory failure, including in Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients. However, no study has described its performance to predict failure of alternating sessions of noninvasive ventilation (NIV) and HFNC in severe COVID-19 patients.
Material And Methods: We conducted a monocentric retrospective cohort study.

Purpose: To assess the repeatability of measures for dry eye disease (DED) symptoms and signs in the DREAM study.
Methods: At screening and baseline visits approximately 2 weeks apart, participants were assessed for symptoms by Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) and Brief Ocular Discomfort Index (BODI), and signs by the same physician in the same order: tear break-up time (TBUT), corneal staining, conjunctival staining, Meibomian gland evaluation, and the Schirmer test. The repeatability of DED symptoms and signs was assessed by interclass correlation coefficient (ICC), 95 % limits of agreement, and the percent of eyes with inter-visit difference above the clinically significant threshold.

Department of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Pelita Harapan University, Karawaci, Tangerang, Indonesia.
Background: Fibromyalgia is characterized by the presence of chronic widespread pain that may impair patient's quality of life. Currently, the use of naltrexone as a therapeutic agent for fibromyalgia is not supported by enough evidence, especially from randomized controlled trials (RCTs). This study aims to analyze the efficacy and safety of low-dose naltrexone (LDN) for the management of fibromyalgia.

Protein copy numbers constrain systems-level properties of regulatory networks, but proportional proteomic data remain scarce compared to RNA-seq. We related mRNA to protein statistically using best-available data from quantitative proteomics and transcriptomics for 4366 genes in 369 cell lines. The approach starts with a protein's median copy number and hierarchically appends mRNA-protein and mRNA-mRNA dependencies to define an optimal gene-specific model linking mRNAs to protein.
