Purpose: To evaluate the feasibility and precision of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) thermometry for monitoring radiofrequency (RF) liver ablation in vivo and predicting the size of the ablation zone.
Materials And Methods: At 1.5T, respiratory-triggered real-time MR temperature mapping (the proton resonance frequency (PRF) method) was used to monitor RF ablation in rabbit liver (N = 6) under free breathing. The size of the ablation zones, as assessed by histological analyses, was compared with that predicted from MR thermal dose (TD) maps or derived from conventional T1-weighted (T1w), T2-weighted (T2w), and T1w gadolinium (Gd)-enhanced (T1w-Gd) images acquired immediately after the ablation, and on days 4 and 8 postprocedure.
Results: MR temperature uncertainty remained under 1-2 degrees C even during RF deposition. The TD maps were shown to be more predictive and precise than the other MR images, with an average predictive precision for the final ablation zone size of about 1 mm as compared to the histologically proven lesion on day 8.
Conclusion: Quantitative temperature MRI during RF ablation is feasible and offered a precise indication of the ablation zone size in this preclinical study based on the lethal dose threshold.

With the progress of atherosclerosis (AS), the arterial lumen stenosis and compact plaque structure, the thickening intima and the narrow gaps between endothelial cells significantly limit the penetration efficiency of nanoprobe to plaque, weakening the imaging sensitivity and therapy efficiency. Thus, in this study, a HO-NIR dual-mode nanomotor, Gd-doped mesoporous carbon nanoparticles/Pt with rapamycin (RAPA) loading and AntiCD36 modification (Gd-MCNs/Pt-RAPA-AC) was constructed. The asymmetric deposition of Pt on Gd-MCNs catalyzed HO at the inflammatory site to produce O, which could promote the self-motion of the nanomotor and ease inflammation microenvironment of AS plaque.

Background: Elemental analysis of teeth allows for exposure assessment during critical windows of development and is increasingly used to link early life exposures and health. The measurement of inorganic elements in teeth is challenging; laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) is the most widely used technique.
Objective: Both synchrotron x-ray fluorescence (SXRF) and LA-ICP-MS have the capability to measure elemental distributions in teeth with each having distinct advantages and disadvantages.

Introduction: A significant portion of posterior urethral valve patients continue to progress to end stage renal disease despite improvements in medical care. Socioeconomic status has been connected to various healthcare outcomes but has not been evaluated in relation to longitudinal outcomes of posterior urethral valves.
Objective: To evaluate the effect of socioeconomic status on the progression to renal failure among patients with posterior urethral valves.

Purpose: In totally endoscopic off-pump left atrial appendage (LAA) closure and surgical ablation, securing the operative field is sometimes difficult in some patients because of a narrow working space caused by an elevated diaphragm or ventricles. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a method that facilitates securing the operative field using an artificial pneumothorax.
Methods: We analyzed 71 consecutive patients who underwent totally endoscopic off-pump LAA closure and bilateral pulmonary vein isolation.
