A cell entering the execution phase of apoptosis (regulated cell death) undergoes characteristic rearrangements, in which the cytoskeleton has major roles. Historically, this reorganisation has been attributed entirely to actomyosin contractility, with microtubule and intermediate filament systems both reported to be lost at an early stage. However, recent results indicate that microtubule networks re-form during the later stages of apoptosis and assist in the dispersal of nuclear and cellular fragments--steps that are thought to be important for preventing inflammation. Here, we discuss the roles of the cytoskeleton during apoptosis and challenge current thinking that actin is the sole functional component driving all major execution phase events.

Background: No treatments exist for apathy in people with frontotemporal dementia. Previously, in a randomised double-blind, placebo-controlled, dose-finding study, intranasal oxytocin administration in people with frontotemporal dementia improved apathy ratings on the Neuropsychiatric Inventory over 1 week and, in a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover study, a single dose of 72 IU oxytocin increased blood-oxygen-level-dependent signal in limbic brain regions. We aimed to determine whether longer treatment with oxytocin improves apathy in people with frontotemporal dementia.

Background: A mobile cognition scale for community screening in cognitive impairment with rigorous validation is in paucity. We aimed to develop a digital scale that overcame low education for community screening for mild cognitive impairment (MCI) due to Alzheimer's disease (AD) and AD.
Methods: A mobile cognitive self-assessment scale (CogSAS) was designed through the Delphi process, which is feasible for the older population with low education.

In this study, we propose a method for successfully evading antivirus detection by encoding malicious shellcode with fountain codes. The Meterpreter framework for Microsoft Windows 32-bit and 64-bit architectures was used to produce the shellcode used in this investigation. The experimental results proved that detection rates were substantially decreased.

Ceramic detachments in cladding systems are indicative of adhesion loss between the ceramic tiles and the substrate or its adhesive mortar due to inadequate quality workmanship, the quality of the adhesive mortar or that of the ceramic material, whether acting simultaneously or not. The shear stresses resulting from the ceramic tiles' expansion due to humidity accelerate this process. There is a shortage of studies on the quality of ceramic tiles and adhesive mortars.

The main purpose of this article was to determine the smoke-generating and thermal properties of selected types of natural leather. Differences in the amount of smoke generated from the type of finish used in the technological processing of leather were observed. Research has shown that the burnt nubuck (367) sample with exposure at the heat flux intensity of 25 kW/m without the presence of a pilot burner flame achieved the highest value of the specific optical density D.
