AI Article Synopsis

  • A 35-year-old man is diagnosed with systemic non-Hodgkin's lymphoma that affects both choroids in his eyes.
  • Indocyanine green angiography is highlighted as a more effective imaging tool compared to fluorescein angiography for visualizing the choroidal involvement.
  • This method is determined to be better for diagnosing and monitoring patients with this type of lymphoma and ocular involvement.

Article Abstract

A 35-year-old man with systemic non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and bilateral choroidal involvement is described. Indocyanine green angiography depicts choroidal involvement much better than fluorescein angiography and seems to be superior in diagnosing and monitoring patients with systemic non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and choroidal involvement.

Background: Structural and functional changes of the choroid plexus (ChP) have been reported in Alzheimer's disease (AD). Nonetheless, the role of the ChP in the pathogenesis of AD remains largely unknown. We aim to unravel the relationship between ChP functioning and core AD pathogenesis using a unique proteomic approach in mice and humans.

Choroidal nevus is the most common intraocular tumor, and most cases are benign and have no symptoms. In this case report, we present a male patient with blurred vision in his left eye for six months.

This study used ultra-widefield swept-source optical coherence tomography angiography (UWF SS-OCTA) to analyze and compare choroidal blood flow and anatomical changes in eyes affected by central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC), pachychoroid neovasculopathy (PNV), and uncomplicated pachychoroid (UCP). The findings revealed distribution patterns of vortex veins across the three patient groups and provided initial findings insights into the origin of choroidal neovascularization (CNV) in PNV. A total of 44 patients with CSC, 38 with PNV, and 46 with UCP were included in the analysis.

Adequate levels of thyroid hormones (THs) in the fetal brain are vital for early neurodevelopment. Most of TH in fetal brain is derived from circulating thyroxine (T4), which gets locally converted into the biologically active triiodothyronine (T3) by deiodinase enzymes. One of the major routes of TH into the brain is through the blood-cerebrospinal fluid barrier (BCSFB).

Background: To describe the spectrum, demographic profile and distribution of intraocular oncology cases; both benign and malignant, in pediatric population in India.

Methods: It was a retrospective study done at a tertiary care hospital over a period of seven years (January 2015- December 2022) which included all the children aged 0-16 years, clinically diagnosed as intraocular tumors (benign or malignant) referred to our Ocular Oncology clinic. The data was retrieved from medical records department as well as electronic medical system (EMR) system.
