Experience with Norcuron, a muscle relaxant of average duration of neuro-muscular effect.

Published: February 1991

In course of the anaesthesia of orthopaedic and general surgery operations, the author administered Norcuron injection in 80 cases for the purpose of intubation and/or surgical myorelaxation. On account of the observation of the usual parameters, he found Norcuron to be a product meeting the expectations, furnishing myorelaxation of medium length that did not cause adverse alterations, in circulation neither did it have other unpleasant side- or after-effect. The author applied a so-called priming dose system by which the time required for intubation could be appreciably shortened. He recommends this procedure to others, too.

We report our experience of a patient with a history of anaphylactic shock suspected to be caused by rocuronium who was scheduled to undergo hepatic tumor resection. The patient was a 17-year-old female (height : 166 cm, weight : 46 kg). During general anesthesia at another hospital several years ago, she had an anaphylactic shock, and rocuronium was suspected to be the offending drug.

Sugammadex sodium is a modified γ-cyclodextrin with a very high affinity for rocuronium and, to a lesser extent, vecuronium molecules. In vivo administration results in immediate encapsulation of rocuronium and vecuronium, resulting in termination of neuro- muscular blockade, usually within 3 minutes. This new neuromuscular blocking agent is specific for the aminosteroidal neuromuscular blocking agents rocuronium and vecuronium.

Background: Effect on hemodynamic changes and experience of robot-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (RALRP) in steep Trendelenburg position (45°) with high-pressure CO(2) pneumoperitoneum is very limited. Therefore, we planned this prospective clinical trial to study the effect of steep Tredelenburg position with high-pressure CO(2) pneumoperitoneum on hemodynamic parameters in a patient undergoing RALRP using FloTrac/Vigileo™1.10.
