Experiments in 3 weeks old albino mice with Toxocara canis and sublethal infection with JE virus established a marked synergestic effect in dually infected mice. The results are discussed to indicate the possible role of visceral larva migrans in creating exploxive outbreaks of "acute encephalopathy syndrome" in individuals having simultaneous infection with a virus (es) which, alone, might produce only mild illness. The nature of the possible mechanisms involved yet remains to be understood.

Purpose: In the present study, the effects of leaf and rhizome extracts of Arum rupicola Boiss rupicola were searched on the infective stage Toxocara canis larvae (L3) in the experimentally infected mice.
Methods: Four-six week-old male BALB/c mice were divided into eight groups (G1-8, each group consisted of 7 mice), and they were infected orally with 500 T. canis eggs with L3.

During 2021 through 2023, the golden mussel and freshwater fishes were sampled from 28 sites in the Tone River system, Japan, and adult trematodes of were found in the fishes. Molecular and morphological analyses based on 28S rDNA and the ITS1-5.8S-ITS2 region revealed the trematode as '', previously reported in Mainland China and likely introduced to Japan.

Lutzomyia longipalpis Lutz & Neiva, 1912 (Diptera, Psychodidae), is the primary vector of Leishmania infantum Nicole, 1908, the etiological agent of American visceral leishmaniasis. During their development, sandfly larvae pass through four instars, consuming soil particles enriched with microorganisms and decomposing organic material. In numerous insect species, the intestinal epithelium not only secretes digestive enzymes and absorbs digested nutrients but also carries out additional functions, such as regulating luminal pH and facilitating the absorption or secretion of ions and water.

Thiazoles serve as pharmacophores in many molecules that exhibit significant biological activity. This study used in vitro assays and in silico methodologies to identify novel medication candidates for preclinical evaluation of visceral toxocariasis treatment. The objective was to assess the impact of 11 thiazolohydrazone derivative compounds on the larval eggs of Toxocara canis.

Parasites have coexisted with humans throughout history, forming either symbiotic relationships or causing significant morbidity and mortality. The liver is particularly vulnerable to parasitic infections, which can reside in, pass through, or be transported to the liver, leading to severe damage. This editorial explores various parasites that infect the liver, their clinical implications, and diagnostic considerations, as discussed in the article "Parasites of the liver: A global problem?".
