Cultivable microbial communities associated with plants inhabiting extreme environments have great potential in biotechnological applications. However, there is a lack of knowledge about these microorganisms from Bryophyllum pinnatum (which survives in severely barren soil) and their ability to promote plant growth. The present study focused on the isolation, identification, biochemical characterization, and potential applications of root endophytic bacteria and rhizosphere bacteria.

Multifunctional plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) have garnered significant attention in agricultural applications; however, a few have applied them in crop rotation or intercropping fields. To identify PGPR with strong colonization ability and broad spectrum benefit, we screened strains from the local tobacco rhizosphere and evaluated their growth-promoting effects across various crops and farming systems. In this study, strain L8, identified as , was selected as a multifunctional PGPR capable of producing indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), solubilizing potassium, and mobilizing both organic and inorganic phosphorus.

Emerging research has highlighted the significant role of the gut microbiota in atherosclerosis (AS), with microbiota-targeted interventions offering promising therapeutic potential. A central component of this process is gut-derived metabolites, which play a crucial role in mediating the distal functioning of the microbiota. In this study, a comprehensive microbiome-metabolite analysis using fecal and serum samples from patients with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease and volunteers with risk factors for coronary heart disease and culture histology is performed, and identified the core strain Bacteroides ovatus (B.

New onset insomnia is often experienced by patients during hospitalization due to environmental disruptions, pain and increased patient care activities. Patient distress arising from poor sleep quality and quantity often results in the prescribing of hypnotics. Melatonin use in hospital settings is common and is increasingly used for off label indications including primary insomnia in those aged < 55 years, prevention of delirium and to facilitate benzodiazepine discontinuation.

This study investigates the synergistic effects of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) and melatonin (MT) on Fragaria × ananassa (strawberry) plants under drought stress, focusing on growth, fruit biomass, and stress tolerance. ZnO NPs enhance nutrient uptake and stress resistance, while MT regulates growth hormones and boosts photosynthetic efficiency. Seven treatments were evaluated: T1 (no stress, 0.
