The radiotracer [F]JK-PSMA-7, a prostate cancer imaging agent for positron emission tomography (PET), was previously synthesized by indirect radiofluorination using an F-labeled active ester as a prosthetic group, which had to be isolated and purified before it could be linked to the pharmacologically active Lys-urea-Glu motif. Although this procedure could be automated on two-reactor modules like the GE TRACERLab FX2N (FXN) to afford the tracer in modest radiochemical yields (RCY) of 18-25%, it is unsuitable for cassette-based systems with a single reactor. To simplify implementation on an automated synthesis module, the radiosynthesis of [F]JK-PSMA-7 was devised as a one-pot, two-step reaction.

Extracellular Polymeric Substances (EPS) are ubiquitous in biological wastewater treatment (WWT) technologies like activated sludge systems, biofilm reactors, and granular sludge systems. EPS recovery from sludge potentially offers a high-value material for the industry. It can be utilized as a coating in slow-release fertilizers, as a bio-stimulant, as a binding agent in building materials, for the production of flame retarding materials, and more.

Phosphate (P) is the plant macronutrient with, by far, the lowest solubility in soil. In soils with low P availability, the soil solution concentrations are low, often below 2 [µmol P/L]. Under these conditions, the diffusive P flux, the dominant P transport mechanism to plant roots, is severely restricted.

The azidofunctionalization of alkenes under mild conditions using commercially available starting materials and easily accessible reagents is reported based on a radical-polar crossover strategy. A broad range of alkenes, including vinyl arenes, enamides, enol ethers, vinyl sulfides, and dehydroamino esters, were regioselectively functionalized with an azide and nucleophiles such as azoles, carboxylic acids, alcohols, phosphoric acids, oximes, and phenols. The method led to a more efficient synthesis of 1,2-azidofunctionalized pharmaceutical intermediates when compared to previous approaches, resulting in both reduction of step count and increase in overall yield.

The assessment of persistence of organic pollutants in seawater is limited by the lack of user-friendly, quick protocols for assessing one of their main sinks, degradation by marine bacteria. Here we present an experimental workflow to identify organic pollutants degradation, taking organophosphate esters flame retardants and plasticizers (OPEs-FR-PL), as a model family of synthetic chemicals released into the marine environment that are particularly widespread due to their persistence and semi-volatile nature. The proposed novel workflow combines culture-dependent techniques, solvent demulsification-dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction, with quantitative liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry analyses in order to identify marine bacterial isolates with the potential to degrade OPEs-FR-PL in the marine environment.
