- Postoperative pain management after posterior urethroplasty (PU) is challenging, and a new technique combining pudendal nerve and spermatic cord blocks was proposed to improve pain control compared to the traditional caudal epidural block.
- A study involving 60 patients showed that those receiving the new nerve block technique experienced longer pain relief and lower pain scores at 12 and 24 hours post-surgery compared to those who received the caudal block.
- The findings suggest that the combined nerve block is a more effective option for postoperative analgesia in PU, registered under the Chinese Clinical Trial Register.

The Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games (Games) were held during the height of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. To detect people infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) early enough to contain the spread and to facilitate the timely arrival of athletes at their game venues, all participating athletes staying in the Olympic Village (up to 14,000) were screened daily for the infection. Toward this aim, a two-step strategy was adopted comprising screening of self-collected saliva samples using a chemiluminescence enzyme immunoassay, followed by confirmatory testing using polymerase chain reaction.

Platelet rich fibrin (PRF) is also called second generation platelet rich plasma due to its high amount of growth factors which could be used in tympanic perforation closure. Being autologous, it is readily available with no immunogenic reactions.
