An analytical model for the investigation of axial wall forces generated by an arterial stenosis.

The causes of arteriosclerosis are intensively investigated since many decades. While circumferential wall stress has received a lot of attention, axial stress (also called "longitudinal" stress) has been largely neglected, and practically never incriminated. However, it has been suggested in 2003 that moderate and severe arterial stenoses may induce non negligible axial forces cyclically in the vessel segment just proximal to the constriction cone. In the present contribution, we describe a simple analytical model that allows to study the distribution of these forces along the vessel in dependence of the respective axial elasticities of vessel and surrounding tissues, and of the stenosis length.

Objectives: Research questions about how and why health trends differ between populations require decisions about data analytic procedure. The objective was to document and compare the information returned from stratified, fixed effect and random effect approaches to data modelling for two prototypical descriptive research questions about comparative trends in toothbrushing.

Methods: Data included five cycles of the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children 2006 to 2022, which provided a sample of 980192 11- to 15- year olds from 35 countries.

Genes and proteins expression profile of 2D vs 3D cancer models: a comparative analysis for better tumor insights.

Cytotechnology

University Centre for Research and Development, University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chandigarh University, Gharuan, Mohali, 140413 India.

When juxtaposed with 2D cell culture models, multicellular tumor spheroids demonstrate a capacity to faithfully replicate certain features inherent to solid tumors. These include spatial architecture, physiological responses, the release of soluble mediators, patterns of gene expression, and mechanisms of drug resistance. The morphological and behavioural similarities between 3D-cultured cells and cells within tumor masses highlight the potential of these models in studying cancer biology and drug responses.

Magnetorheological (MR) fluid (MRF) dampers, serving as fail-safe semi-active devices, exhibit nonlinear hysteresis characteristics, emphasizing the necessity for accurate modeling to formulate effective control strategies in smart systems. This paper introduces a novel stop operator-based Prandtl-Ishlinskii (PI) model, featuring a reduced parameter set (seven), designed to estimate the nonlinear hysteresis properties of a large-scale bypass MRF damper with variable stiffness capabilities under varying applied current. With only seven parameters, the model realizes current, displacement, and rate dependencies.

Scientific Research Department, Research Group in Dental Sciences, School of Dentistry, Universidad Científica del Sur, Lima, Perú.

Aim: This study aimed to identify factors associated with adolescents' knowledge, practices, and attitudes (KPA-OH) regarding oral health in the Rupa-Rupa district, a high jungle region of Peru.

Materials And Methods: An analytical study was conducted with a sample of 408 adolescents (aged 13-17 years) from seven public schools in the Rupa-Rupa district (elevation: 649 meters above sea level). The sample was stratified by sex, age, and school.

Background: Prior research linking myosteatosis with cognition in older adults has been conducted in relatively homogenous populations with narrow age ranges. We evaluated if abdominal myosteatosis was associated with processing speed in a multiethnic cohort of middle aged and older adults.

Methods: The analytical sample included 1,268 adults (46-86 years old, mean 63±9 years, 53% female of 41% White, 20% Black, 14% Chinese, and 25% Hispanic), a subset from the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA).
