Interindividual variability in xenobiotic metabolism and drug response is extensive. Genetic factors are predicted to account for 15-30% of this variability in general, but for certain drugs the genetic factor is the major determinant for outcome of drug therapy. Of particular importance for drug metabolism, drug response, and adverse drug reactions are the cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes, many of which are polymorphic. An essential basis for research and applications regarding interindividual variability in xenobiotic metabolism and toxicity by polymorphic CYPs is to have a common nomenclature for genetic variants and a system that allows researchers to be rapidly updated within the field. Since 1999 this has been achieved by the operation of the Human Cytochrome P450 Allele Nomenclature Committee Web site (www.imm.ki.se/CYPalleles/), where novel allelic variants are published after peer review. Currently, this Web site covers the nomenclature for polymorphic alleles of 22 CYP isoforms including more than 200 functionally different variants. Each CYP has its own Web page, which lists the alleles with their nucleotide changes, their functional consequences, and links to publications where the allele has been identified and characterized. The CYP allele Web site offers a rapid on-line publication of new alleles, provides an overview of peer-reviewed data, and serves as a form of quality control on research on new alleles.

Horses are particularly susceptible to developing exertional rhabdomyolysis (ER) characterized by muscle stiffness, pain, and reluctance to move. Diagnosis requires establishing abnormal increases in serum creatine kinase activity when horses exhibit clinical signs. The 2 main categories of ER include sporadic ER arising from extrinsic causes and chronic ER that arises from intrinsic continuous or episodic abnormalities in muscle function.

Introduction: To improve surgical quality and safety, health systems must prioritise equitable care for surgical patients. Racialised patients experience worse postoperative outcomes when compared with non-racialised surgical patients in settler colonial nation-states. Identifying preventable adverse outcomes for equity-deserving patient populations is an important starting point to begin to address these gaps in care.

Introduction: Surgical site infections (SSIs) are the second leading cause of healthcare-associated infections in Europe with the highest rates being reported in colorectal surgery (ranging from 9% to 30%). Surgical antibiotic prophylaxis (SAP) is one of the most efficient measures for SSI prevention and should be started before surgical incision. Cefoxitin is an antibiotic widely used as SAP for colorectal surgery, but its continuous administration is currently the subject of debate due to its potential pharmacokinetic advantages.

Aptamers, a kind of short nucleotide sequences with high specificity and affinity with targets, have attracted extensive attention in recent years. Molecular docking method (MDM) is the most common method to explore the binding mode and recognition mechanism of aptamers and small molecules, which generally use the target to dock with the highest scoring tertiary structural model of the aptamer, and the highest scoring result is used as the predicted model. However, this prediction results may miss out the true interaction pattern due to the fact that aptamers are not completely rigid and the natural aptamers conformations are not in a single state.

Background: The online nature of decision aids (DAs) and related e-tools supporting women's decision-making regarding breast cancer screening (BCS) through mammography may facilitate broader access, making them a valuable addition to BCS programs.
Objective: This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to evaluate the scientific evidence on the impacts of these e-tools and to provide a comprehensive assessment of the factors associated with their increased utility and efficacy.
Methods: We followed the 2020 PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines and conducted a search of MEDLINE, PsycINFO, Embase, CINAHL, and Web of Science databases from August 2010 to April 2023.
