While Pacific oysters are important commercial aquaculture species worldwide, the effect of hormonal regulation and environmental conditions on growth and taste profile have not been fully known. Insulin-like growth factor (IGF) systems are known to play a major role in regulating neuroendocrine functions across various physiological processes and are particularly involved in growth. IGFs expression also is directly related to the nutritional status of vertebrates, however, full mechanism has not been clearly identified in bivalves.

Gene model for the ortholog of glycogen synthase ( ) in the May 2017 (Princeton ASM75419v2/DsimGB2) Genome Assembly (GenBank Accession: GCA_000754195.3 ). This ortholog was characterized as part of a developing dataset to study the evolution of the Insulin/insulin-like growth factor signaling pathway (IIS) across the genus using the Genomics Education Partnership gene annotation protocol for Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences.

Insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF1) is a regulator of both cellular hypertrophy and lipogenesis, which are two key processes for pathogenesis of obesity. However, the in vivo role of IGF1 in the development of obesity remains unclear. Here, we show that IGF1 expression is increased in adipose tissue in obese human patients and animal models.

Objectives: This study aimed to assess differences in insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) levels following the transition from somatropin to lonapegsomatropin in patients with pediatric growth hormone deficiency (GHD). Secondary objectives included the evaluation of dose titrations based on IGF-1 levels, changes in annualized height velocity (AHV) and body mass index (BMI), and assessing reported adverse effects associated with lonapegsomatropin therapy.
Methods: A single-center, retrospective review was conducted including patients diagnosed with pediatric GHD initially treated with somatropin who transitioned to lonapegsomatropin between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2023.
