With hydroponics and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE), this paper studied the effects of lead stress on the activities of peroxidase (POD), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT), and their isoenzymic band numbers in cucumber seedlings. The results showed that the isoenzymic bands and expression quantity of POD decreased gradually with increasing lead concentration. The SOD activity increased with increasing lead concentration within the range of 0-500 mg Pb x L(-1), reached the maximum at 7th day, and then decreased rapidly, being lower than the control of the same period. Under the concentration of 900 mg Pb x L(-1), the SOD activity decreased with time. The isoenzymic bands and expression quantity of SOD were negatively related to lead concentration. No significant change was observed in the isoenzymic bands of CAT, but a significant difference was found in the expression quantity of CAT isoenzymes.

Ophidism is a public health problem in tropical countries, occurring predominantly in rural areas. In Colombia, among the species responsible for snakebite envenomation, inflicting high mortality, is the Chocoan bushmaster, , better known locally by the names " (warty)" and " (rot-causing)". In this research, the cardiotoxic effect of the venom of in male Wistar rats weighing 230 ± 20 g was evaluated.

Calcium (Ca)/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II (CaMKII) is activated during exercise by reactive oxygen species (ROS) and Ca transients initiating muscle contraction. CaMKII modulates antioxidant, inflammatory, metabolic and autophagy signalling pathways. CaMKII is coded by four homologous genes (α, β, γ, and δ).

Knowledge of the primary structure of neuronal NO synthase (nNOS) in skeletal muscle is still conflicting and needs further clarification. To elucidate the expression patterns of nNOS isoforms at both mRNA and protein level, systematic reverse transcription (RT)-PCR and epitope mapping by qualitative immunoblot analysis on skeletal muscle of C57/BL6 mice were performed. The ability of the nNOS isoforms to form aggregates was characterized by native low-temperature polyacrylamide electrophoresis (LT-PAGE).

The genetic variability and relationships between ten bottle gourd cultivars were evaluated based on morphological, biochemical, and molecular parameters. The results displayed high variability among selected cultivars in terms of photosynthetic pigments, total free amino acids, total phenol content, isozymes pattern, and protein electrophoresis. Furthermore, differences in molecular markers were revealed by the SCoT technique.

Purification of amylases from digestive tracts of three freshwater fish species with Q-Sepharose Fast Flow and Sephacryl S-200 columns displayed two isoforms of amylases from Osteochilus hasselti (O1, O2) and three isoforms of those from both Hampala dispar (UB, H1, H2) and Puntioplites proctozystron (P1, P2, P3). The optimum pH values displayed at 7.0 and 8.
