Generalized edema has been reported to be a rare side effect of systemic retinoids. We report a patient who developed localized bipedal edema from acitretin. Other causes of bipedal edema were excluded and withdrawal of acitretin led to resolution of the edema.

Peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM) refers to systolic dysfunction occurring toward the end of pregnancy or in the months following delivery; it is a diagnosis of exclusion. We present a patient with chest pain, bipedal edema, markedly elevated troponins, electrocardiogram (EKG) findings that were concerning for myocardial infarction, and a significantly reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) on the echocardiogram.

Methods: The data of 3,040 children aged 12-23 months were taken from the Afghanistan Health Survey 2018, including characteristics of the children and their households, household heads, and mothers/primary care givers. Adjusted odds ratios (AORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were estimated using a logistic model.
