From December 2004 until November 2005, 15 cases of endobronchial cancer presenting with 22 episodes of mechanical obstruction of the airway, difficulty in breathing, hemoptysis, severe coughing, obstructive pneumonia and identified recurrent atelectasis of the lungs. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a treatment modality clinically approved for several oncologic indications, including esophageal and endobronchial cancers, precancerous conditions including Barrett's esophagus and actinic keratosis, and benign conditions like age-related macular degeneration. While it is currently clinically underused, PDT is an area of significant research interest. Because PDT relies on the absorption of light energy by intrinsic or administered absorbers, the dosimetric quantity of interest is the absorbed energy per unit mass of tissue, proportional to the fluence rate of light in tissue.

Background: The recurrence shortly after interventional therapy poses a great challenge in managing malignant central airway obstruction (MCAO). While cryotherapy has shown potential benefits when combined with immunotherapy in lung cancer, its effectiveness for improving local control of malignant central airway tumors is not well understood. This study aims to evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of combining these strategies.

Background: Bronchopleural fistula (BPF) is a rare and often difficult postoperative complication to manage. This case series describes a bronchoscopic technique using a bone plug for closure of BPFs.
Methods: Six patients at Henry Ford Hospital from 2014 to 2021, who had a postoperative BPF after lung resection with curative intent for non-small cell lung cancer, underwent bronchoscopic placement of a customized bone plug.

Background: Esophageal ultrasound with bronchoscope fine needle aspiration (EUS-B-FNA) is a valuable tool for the diagnosis and staging of lung cancer, complementing endobronchial lung ultrasound (EBUS). While generally considered safe, there is a notable lack of comprehensive knowledge within the interventional pulmonology community regarding potential complications.
Case Presentation: We present a case involving a 66-year-old male with squamous cell lung carcinoma undergoing mediastinal staging.

BACKGROUND Pembrolizumab, a programmed cell-death protein-1 (PD-1)-targeting antibody, extends survival in cancer patients but may cause lung injury as a side effect. This immunotherapy enhances the immune system's ability to recognize and eliminate cancer cells. However, its immunomodulatory action can sometimes lead to immune-related adverse events, including lung injury.
