Article Synopsis
  • Primary atopic disorders (PAD) are rare genetic conditions caused by specific gene variants that affect skin and immune function, making diagnosis challenging among common allergic disease cases.
  • Identifying PAD requires recognizing clinical red flags like family history and unusual infections, as conventional lab tests are inadequate for definitive diagnosis.
  • Whole-genome sequencing (WGS) enhances diagnostic efficiency and accuracy, but requires careful interpretation and collaboration among specialists to effectively manage PAD cases.

Isolation and Characterization of Exosomes Derived from Mouse Spleen Tissues.

J Vis Exp

September 2024

Scientific Research Center, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangdong Medical University, Guangdong Medical University; Medical Interdisciplinary Science Research Center of Western Guangdong, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangdong Medical University, Guangdong Medical University;

Article Synopsis
  • Exosomes (Exo) are small lipid-bilayer vesicles released by various cells, and they hold potential as biomarkers for diagnosing and predicting diseases due to their involvement in disease processes.
  • Tissue-derived Exosomes (Ti-Exo) are particularly valuable for understanding disease mechanisms because they reflect specific tissue environments and aid in cellular communication.
  • This study presents an effective method for isolating exosomes from mouse spleen tissue, utilizing Type I collagenase digestion and differential ultracentrifugation, and confirms their presence and purity through multiple analytical techniques.

Proteomic profile of tissue-derived extracellular vesicles from benign odontogenic lesions.

J Stomatol Oral Maxillofac Surg

September 2024

State Key Laboratory of Oral & Maxillofacial Reconstruction and Regeneration, Key Laboratory of Oral Biomedicine Ministry of Education, Hubei Key Laboratory of Stomatology, School & Hospital of Stomatology, Wuhan University, 237 Luoyu Road, Hongshan District, Wuhan 430079, China; Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Head Neck Oncology, School & Hospital of Stomatology, Wuhan University, Wuhan 430079, China.. Electronic address:

Background: Benign odontogenic lesions (BOLs) can cause severe jaw bone defects and compromise the quality of life of patients. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are well-established and versatile players in mediating pathophysiological events. EVs in the interstitial space (tissue-derived EVs or Ti-EVs) possess higher specificity and sensitivity in disease-related biomarker discovery.

Metabolome analyses of skin dialysate: Insights into skin interstitial fluid biomarkers.

J Dermatol Sci

June 2024

Institute of Health and Sport Sciences, University of Tsukuba, Tsukuba, Japan; Advanced Research Initiative for Human High Performance (ARIHHP), Japan. Electronic address:

Background: Metabolites in biofluids can serve as biomarkers for diagnosing diseases and monitoring body conditions. Among the available biofluids, interstitial fluid (ISF) in the skin has garnered considerable attention owing to its advantages, which include inability to clot, easy access to the skin, and possibility of incorporating wearable devices. However, the scientific understanding of skin ISF composition is limited.
