Article Abstract

Purpose: To establish the standard values of roentgengraphic cephalometry in children with normal occlusion in Shandong district and to make the facial model.

Methods: 156 children were selected to take lateral cephalograph, and were divided into two groups: mixed dentition and early permanent dentition. Cephalograms were analyzed for all subjects with WinCeph7.0. Data were obtained for student's t test between the two groups and between males and females.

Results: The norms with derivation for all measurement of X ray cephalometrical analysis on hard tissues were established. Meanwhile, the difference between males and females was compared and the facial model of children with normal occlusion was made.

Conclusion: Gender difference was shown in linear measurements, with greater growth in males in general. The growing tendency of children from mixed dentition to early permanent dentition was that the maxilla of the male grows faster while the mandible of the female grows faster.

This article outlines the orthodontic treatment of a 21-year-old female patient with an open bite and temporomandibular joint disorders (TMDs) that developed after a severe car accident. The treatment plan utilized temporary anchorage devices (TADs) for upper molar intrusion to correct the open bite without resorting to orthognathic surgery. Over a period of 3 years, the treatment achieved a stable occlusion, normalized molar relationships, and improved esthetics.

Purpose: To validate the quantification of the prominent middle limiting membrane (PMLM) sign, a marker of mild-to-moderate acute ischemic damage on optical coherence tomography (OCT), by measuring middle limiting membrane (MLM) reflectivity in patients with central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) and to investigate the prognostic impact of this measure.

Methods: Spectral Domain (SD)-OCT B-scans of 30 patients with CRVO, either sole CRVO or combined central retinal artery and vein occlusion (CCRAVO), were analyzed retrospectively and graded as PMLM present or absent. Normalized MLM reflectivity was calculated as a ratio of the maximum reflectivity within a MLM target layer and the average reflectivity of the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE).
