Studying the properties and phase diagram of iron at high-pressure and high-temperature conditions has relevant implications for Earth's inner structure and dynamics and the temperature of the inner core boundary (ICB) at 330 GPa. Also, a hexagonal-closed packed to body-centered cubic (bcc) phase transition has been predicted by many theoretical works but observed only in a few experiments. The recent coupling of high-power laser with advanced x-ray sources from synchrotrons allows for novel approaches to address these issues.

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are extremely stable chemicals that are essential for modern life and decarbonization technologies. Yet PFAS are persistent pollutants that are harmful to human health. Hexafluoropropylene oxide dimer acid (GenX), a replacement for the PFAS chemical perfluorooctanoic acid, continues to pollute waterways.

Enhancing transport and chemomechanical properties in cathode composites is crucial for the performance of solid-state batteries. Our study introduces the filler-aligned structured thick (FAST) electrode, which notably improves mechanical strength and ionic/electronic conductivity in solid composite cathodes. The FAST electrode incorporates vertically aligned nanoconducting carbon nanotubes within an ion-conducting polymer electrolyte, creating a low-tortuosity electron/ion transport path while strengthening the electrode's structure.

CYP105A1 exhibits monooxygenase activity to a wide variety of structurally different substrates with regio- and stereospecificity, making its application range broad. Our previous studies have shown that CYP105A1 wild type and its variants metabolize 12 types of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). In particular, the R84A variant exhibited a high activity against many NSAIDs.

Cadmium (Cd) contamination in aquatic systems is a widespread environmental issue. In this study, a solid waste iron tailings and biochar hybrid (Fe-TWBC) was successfully synthesized derived from co-pyrolysis of peanut shell and tailing waste (Fe-TW). Characterization analyses showed that the metal oxides from solid waste iron tailings successfully loaded onto the biochar surface, with more functional groups in Fe-TWBC.
