Patients with corrosive induced esophageal strictures have more than a 1000-fold risk of developing carcinoma of the esophagus. We report three cases of corrosion carcinoma seen by us (a team of gastroenterologists, radiologists and a surgeon) in the last 15 years. Two cases were among 156 patients with corrosive induced strictures on our follow-up, and constituted the only corrosion carcinoma out of 650 esophageal carcinomas operated on by us. Nearly all reported patients with corrosion carcinoma in the published literature had consumed an alkali, but two of our three patients had consumed an acid.

Bio-corrosion of Fe(0) metals in the actual environments results from the combined action of multiple microbes rather than the single action of one type of microbe. Nevertheless, the interspecies interactions between the corrosive microorganism and co-existing microbes, as well as their effects on the bio-corrosion of Fe(0) metals, remain unclear, especially for the interspecies interactions between methanogens and co-existed bacteria in microbiota in the absence of sulfate. Herein, the interspecies interactions between methanogens and co-existed bacteria in three different kinds of methanogenic microbiota (Methanothrix, Methanospirillum, or Methanobacterium dominant) and their effects on methanogens-influenced corrosion of Q235A steel were investigated.

The increasing challenges related to the reliability and durability of steel pipeline infrastructure necessitate a detailed understanding of degradation and failure mechanisms. This study focuses on selective corrosion and erosion as critical factors, analyzing their impact on pipeline integrity using advanced methods, including macroscopic analysis, corrosion testing, microscopic examination, tensile strength testing, and finite element method (FEM) modeling. Selective corrosion in the heat-affected zones (HAZs) of longitudinal welds was identified as the dominant degradation mechanism, with pit depths reaching up to 6 mm, leading to tensile strength reductions of 30%.

MoS coating is a newly developed method to prevent bolt corrosion and the seizure of bolts used in equipment in sea areas. It is of great significance to investigate the evolution of the tensile properties and intact coatings for the maintenance of coated bolts.
