Pulmonary aspiration is associated with high morbidity and mortality rates. Older adult patients have been shown to be particularly at risk for aspiration. A randomized controlled trial was conducted to investigate the efficacy of a simple, noninvasive screening test-the monitored sip test-in identifying patients at risk for aspiration, including "silent aspirators." Based on clinical judgment using the study's outcome measures, incidence of aspiration-related lung injury was high (ie, 37.5%); however, no identification of patients at risk for aspiration occurred after either the use of the monitored sip test or routine cautious introduction of fluids during the data collection phase of the study.

Gynecomastia, the abnormal enlargement of male breast tissue, is a rare side effect associated with dasatinib. This drug is used in the treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). We present a case of dasatinib-induced gynecomastia in a 52-year-old gentleman with CML who developed bilateral breast enlargement and tenderness after approximately four months of dasatinib treatment.

Background: The debate continues on whether combining core decompression (CD) with regenerative therapy provides a more effective treatment for early femoral head necrosis than CD alone. This systematic review and meta-analysis endeavored to assess its efficacy.
Methods: We systematically searched PubMed, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library through July 2024 for RCTs and cohort studies evaluating the impact of core decompression (CD) with regenerative therapy versus CD alone in early-stage osteonecrosis (ARCO I, II or IIIa or Ficat I or II) of the femoral head (ONFH).
Introduction: Near-term and intrapartum care play pivotal roles in ensuring a safe childbirth experience and are essential components of a comprehensive approach to maternal and neonatal health.
Methods: The following interventions were identified: antibiotics for preterm premature rupture of membrane, antenatal corticosteroids for fetal lung maturation, partograph use during labor and delivery, induction of labor at or post term, skilled birth care and safe childbirth checklist during labor and delivery. A scoping exercise was conducted to ascertain the most up-to-date evidence, and reviews of topics of interest were updated in case the evidence was not recent, with a focus on low- and middle- income countries (LMICs).
